Portable winscp for remotely working on your (webserver(s))

Submitted by comedit on June 4, 2006 - 7:32pm

I have my own webserver running at home and I travel alot for my work. The company has secured the laptop I carry so much it is hard to get to your own server (as soon as I use portnumbers the VPN-firwall starts to protest.)

I sneak my way around this by carrying linux livecd's around (suse and kubuntu), but as many other users might confirm you do switch back and forth between linux and windows to get your work done.

Anyhow I found this java program Unitty which is a bit like winscp but not as good. Filezilla is ok for ftp but when you need to start putting in commandlines root access, no connection time outs etcetera, then winscp is a good solution.

Sylpheed

Syplpheed is a lightweight GTK+ mail/newsgroup client. It runs on Unix-like systems such as Linux, BSD, and Mac OS X. It also supports Windows.
It has the required libs bundled and stores all info in Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sylpheed under Windows. It has multilanguage support and can be migrated to from any mail client that uses mbox.
I like this client very much, I dropped Thunderbird for it, and since I travel a lot, I would like to request it to be a portable app.
