Adding "Portable Ubuntu" to the directory

Submitted by alvinwong on October 26, 2011 - 10:37am

"Portable Ubuntu" is a portable version of Ubuntu which runs side-by-side with Windows, without using virtual machines.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableubuntu/
(To download, use this link instead: http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableubuntu/files/portableubuntu/Vers... )

It is a modified version of Ubuntu 10.4.3 LTS using Gnome.

For me testing on my USB3.0 Harddisk it is quite good and stable.

Color Oracle

Suggestion for a new App:

Color Oracle
http://colororacle.cartography.ch/

Briefly, it's a free program allows you to view the entire contents of you screen in "colorblind" mode so that you can ensure your presentations and diagrams can be read by those who do not have full color vision.

Personally, I like to use it mainly for graphs to make sure each data series can be told from the others even for colorblind people.

Adaptable Gimp

Submitted by JKEngineer on October 20, 2011 - 3:56pm

I just saw a posting about Adaptable Gimp that looks very intriguing. It is Gimp with an extra piece added to the interface. This gives it the ability to step the user through common tasks by entering a search term like "crop a photo" and getting back the list of tools needed to perform it, in order, with commentary. These "task sets" can be edited and added to online at the adaptable gimp website.

It is licensed the same as Gimp, under the GPL. See the faq page: http://www.adaptablegimp.org/w/FAQ

Aircrack-ng [portable]

Submitted by phly95 on October 18, 2011 - 7:41pm

Please make a portable version of the app called Aircrack so I can use my own PC in the school w/o registering (They require you to put a Trojan on your computer before they give you the WEP key so teachers can see you at all times)
