Can't Open Excel Files

Submitted by wr4 on January 13, 2015 - 8:00pm

Is anyone running this on XP? I just 'installed' the latest version (on XP Pro SP3) and it will not open Excel files (xlsx, xlsm), but it will open Word files; all saved in Office 2007.

The error box says General Error, General input/output error.

Anyone know how to fix this?

LibreOffice Portable Help Installer

Submitted by SW-PA-2014 on January 12, 2015 - 4:31am

Like others, I wanted to install the help files for LibreOffice, but found no quick and easy way of doing this. Even extracting the files, using 7-Zip, leaves some files with the wrong names and wrong locations. So, to get past this, I wrote a portable application, which I call "LibreOffice Portable Help Installer". All you need to do is the following:

(1) Download the "LibreOffice Help For Offline Use" installer from the non-portable LibreOffice site.

Unable to Install via PortableApps Installer

Submitted by wquatan on January 7, 2015 - 5:18am

Since weeks I'm trying to install LibreOffice, for the first time on my 12.0.5. via the Installer
Now this is LibreOffice 4.3.5, but before that might have been another version.

I always get the following error :

Unable to download the file. This could be due to a proxy or network issue or the hosting server not permitting downloads from your location. File: https://portableapps.com/redirect/?a=LibreOfficePortable&t=http%3A%2F%2F...

Good day. I've been using themes on other open source programs like GIMP, Inkscape, Deluge, gPick and some more that use GTK 2.0 themes in Windows 7, and until now I just download the tar.gz file that contains the theme files from gnome-look.org and just unzip them in the folder usually located at AppFolder/etc/gtk-2.0/, the themes usually don't look 100% like they do in the previews (since I use Windows, not Linux) but it does make them look really good.

4.3.4, XP, old CPUs: Did 4.3.4 fully fixed the SSE2 issue of this thread?

For the current, 4.3.4 (hopefully non) issue, please look at the bottom, later messages.
Prevoius, 2nd, Subject of this thread was:
Installing 4.3.1, XP: Fatal Error, cannot be started, enableExtension fail
For an old, 4.3.1 issue, please look at, roughly, the message at the middle.
Original, 1st, Subject of this thread was:
Installing 4.3.0 on XP: encountered an error and needs to be closed.

[Closed] no sidebar in LibreOffice portable

Submitted by salsalero on August 18, 2014 - 12:56am

Sidebar (present in LO since a few versions ago) doesn't work in my portable version (v4.3.0.4, Build ID: 62ad5818884a2fc2e5780dd45466868d41009ec0).

It is not enabled by default in my Writer (but probably because it keeps my previous settings and customization?),
I have been using LO for long and actually never saw the Sidebar (I just learned about it recently in another blog's review!)
