I have been experimenting with some things, using StartPortableApps. So far I've found them useful, so I figured I'd post them here in case they might be useful to others. I'm posting them as .nsi source rather than an executable, because I don't want anyone mistaking this for a production or reliable version. Someone with NSIS installed can probably get this compiled in a couple of minutes (you'll need an icon file -- any will do -- or comment that line out).
Now that my semester of school is coming to an end, I'll have free time to resume development of CAFE Mod.
To get things organized and all in the same place, I'd like those who use CAFE Mod to post feature requests, bug reports, or translations in THIS topic.
It will be much appreciated and will make further development and improvement easier and faster.
To keep things organized here, please attempt to follow this basic format for posting

Hi,
I'm trying to get Portable Firefox to use a JRE that has been copied to my USB stick (I'm assuming that there is no JRE on the local OS).
Having looked around this site and Google I came across the following articles:
https://portableapps.com/node/439
https://portableapps.com/node/9371
They seem to suggest that Firefox looks at HKLM\Software\JavaSoft to locate the JRE. How can you "fool" Firefox into reading a different key (such as HKCU) or perhaps an ini file. Has anybody done this?
Possible addtion to the development guidelines page:
There is merit in having a choice in where settings are put.
If I'm using a USB drive, then it's MY drive, MY dataspace. Writing settings
to the application folder is fine.
If I'm using a network share with the idea I don't have to install the *#($&@(
thing on every computer in my network, then the last place I want settings written is the application folder.
Hi !!!
As this concern two applications (may be more) and seems to be PortableApps related, i posted here
I work now on win2k admin account
I installed PA lite and patch 101 on my USB coskin 256Mo key
Every app works fine
I wanted to add some apps : 7Zip, KeePass and VLC
I used options install new app open paf
7Zip worked like a charm and the two others gave me some errors (0xc0000005) and corrupted installation...
I always unmount my key properly, and i tried several times erasing manually files and reinstalling (even 7Zip, who still working everytime)
Hi! PortableApps is a great software. It stands against all the rest. But I hope it will support Categories and/or Groups.
Here is Filezilla fully portable with only one self extracting exe file. The app was made with thinstall and will work on any computer.
[Link to illegal software removed by moderator JTH. Thinstall is a proprietary, closed source application and it can not legally be used to package GPLed software like FileZilla. Nearly all 'thinstalled' portable software floating around the net is illegal. I also removed your double post of this item. Double-posting links to illegal software is not a good way to start in a new community.]
I made these a while back for personal reasons, but they need updated and repackaged. It should be just the files already there that need to be upgraded, as well as modules. See http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t50782.html for details.

how are you there, i'm very happy to find this site providing something like this, and i hope you going on to provide us with new and new portable software, my request is oracle system, because we have many programs we make and want to view it to the customers, and we install oracle system in each pc we view programs in, so we will be very thanks if you try to provide a portable oracle system to help us moving or programs from pc to another, with very thanks and hope God help you much.
