Portable App Development

I downloaded firefox and tried to play online games but when I go to them, it says i have to download plugins (Flash, Shockwave, etc...) so i download them. Then, i use a different computer, I have to download flsh again. I think that it actually downloads it to the computer that I'm on. So when I look online it says to download them as extentions if its portable (what?) so if anyone knows how to make a portable version of flash for firefox that you don't have to install over and over... please tell me. For now I use Opera (portable) (because it comes with flash).

when the Usb is connected the portable apps menu should pop up right away and an icon should appear on the desk top that can be used to open the port. apps. menu.

the icon should appear when plugged in and dissapear when disconnected

I've been fiddling with BPBible this morning. It is much improved over an early development version and I am going to start using it instead of SwordProject and maybe even E-Sword.

I do have one sizable request, though. Please integrate the Search window into the main window. Perhaps below to the right with the Commentary window. Having the Search window pop up in front of the Bible text doesn't make much sense. One always has to move it.

as we are using this great apps also on our servers, whereto we connect via terminal clients, it would be fine to be able to launch 2 or more instances of a portable app in the same time.

a recent example would be the process-explorer: if one instance is open @a term-window, on all other term-windows the launcher quits with the error: "shut down the running instance first.."

I've experimented rebuilding the processexplorer-launcher with the param "AllowMultipleInstances", but didn't succeed with this till now and the current paf seems to ignore this option in the ini-file.

Today I wrote a mail to Alfredo Milani Comparetti, the developer of SpeedFan, to ask him if he'd be interested in picking up the idea of creating a portable version of his lovely tool.
Now I've some happy news to announce, he is actually already working on a portable version of it and I can't wait for it to be released!
Just wanted to share this information with you and also win some of you for this great little piece of software!

Have not been able to find a menu theme that incorporates the use of ToolTips. Would appreciate the name of any theme that does. If no theme is currently available would like information on the coding necessary to modify an existing theme and what file to modify? The only files I can find that seem to be relevant would be theme.ini or desktop.ini but unfortunately I am a novice in programming or writing themes.
Searching for "tooltips" does not seem to produce info to answer my questions.

OK. First of all I'm one of those who joined here, used the applications heavily, wanted to contribute then out of a sudden stopped visiting. I see the site is still going strong - but what's new? What's actually happening here? No, I don't mean as in "we're intending to get freeware applications too". I mean, where are we going with the portable applications? Are there any plans for any better management of the applications (locally)?

While I was looking for a portable version in addition to the current offered ones for comparision I found that one.
It's free under bsd license but I didn't had enough time to toy around with it yet.
Also uses the latest version of WebKit (525.19) like Safari, Google's Chrome however still 525.13.
no tracking, no client-id, timestamp, etc.

I've been using the PortableApps suite, and while it is a great idea, it has one major flaw: it runs all the applications off the USB device.

This leads to certain applications (e.g. Firefox) running really rather slowly because they have to write to the USB device regularly.

The only real solution to this, if one wants to keep one's applications running within PortableApps suite (which is convenient) is to copy the whole PortableApps suite to the hard drive before running it, and then copy it back again when you're done. This is rather time consuming.
