Portable App Development

Now that my semester of school is coming to an end, I'll have free time to resume development of CAFE Mod.

To get things organized and all in the same place, I'd like those who use CAFE Mod to post feature requests, bug reports, or translations in THIS topic.

It will be much appreciated and will make further development and improvement easier and faster.

To keep things organized here, please attempt to follow this basic format for posting

Hi,

I'm trying to get Portable Firefox to use a JRE that has been copied to my USB stick (I'm assuming that there is no JRE on the local OS).

Having looked around this site and Google I came across the following articles:

They seem to suggest that Firefox looks at HKLM\Software\JavaSoft to locate the JRE. How can you "fool" Firefox into reading a different key (such as HKCU) or perhaps an ini file. Has anybody done this?

Possible addtion to the development guidelines page:

There is merit in having a choice in where settings are put.

If I'm using a USB drive, then it's MY drive, MY dataspace. Writing settings
to the application folder is fine.

If I'm using a network share with the idea I don't have to install the *#($&@(
thing on every computer in my network, then the last place I want settings written is the application folder.

As this concern two applications (may be more) and seems to be PortableApps related, i posted here

I work now on win2k admin account
I installed PA lite and patch 101 on my USB coskin 256Mo key

Every app works fine
I wanted to add some apps : 7Zip, KeePass and VLC

I used options install new app open paf
7Zip worked like a charm and the two others gave me some errors (0xc0000005) and corrupted installation...

I always unmount my key properly, and i tried several times erasing manually files and reinstalling (even 7Zip, who still working everytime)

Hi! PortableApps is a great software. It stands against all the rest. But I hope it will support Categories and/or Groups.

Here is Filezilla fully portable with only one self extracting exe file. The app was made with thinstall and will work on any computer.

Yeagh, with my Project64 Portable launcher, for some reason one set of Registry keys is not being imported into the Registry upon execution. When I manually import them they get exported after closing P64 Portable/

The .reg thats not being imported is reffered to as "project642.reg" w/o quotes

Could someone please explain why the .reg is not being imported and what I can do to correct this cause it is annoying to hafta manually import a .reg and I am sure P64 Portable Launcher users find it annoying too.

I was hesitant to post this since the Invalid command: ${registry::KeyExists} error has already been discussed in detail in previous threads, but none of the explanations so far have solved my problem.

I've installed Dialogs, FindProc, NewAdvSplash, and Registry.
I'm using the 2.3 template,but I'm still getting

Invalid command: ${registry::KeyExists}
Error in script "C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Desktop\Celtx.nsi" on line 527 -- aborting creation process

of course Registry::SaveKey and DeleteKey don't work either.
