Portable App Development

Hello @all,
OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 is behind the door and - of course - the portable version too

We have now languagepacks and the imagepack as real plugins with version check.
I'm thinking about removing python too an put it to an plugin, cause 90 percent of the users never use it (saves ~11 MB installed space and ~4MB in the package).

Recently I have been trying to make the Instant messenger Xfire ( http://xfire.com ) because a few of my friends have been wanting it for traveling, etc.

I have compressed it pretty well, everything is done, except the installer (I need to add Plugin, and multilingual support to it) and making it so that Xfire leaves no trace on the computer it is run from (It leaves files, such as chatlogs in
C:\ProgramData\Xfire\
and
C:\Users\%CURRENTUSER%\AppData\Roaming\Xfire

Hello, I'm new to making Portable Apps. Im trying out many methods. But recently i made a game (Not going to post here do it not being Open Source, and used ThinApp to make it). I made the app using a virtual machine 100% clean. Ok, after that i took a reg shot on my main PC, then ran the program, then closed it. Then took another regshot. After that i got no keys added, but like 4 values added. Should i worry about them, or leave them alone?

I will try to up load the values that were added.

I've downloaded WiresharkPortable install file. How do I get this on my USB stick so that Portable Apps sees it and I'm able to use it?

I'm responsible for the creation of the Strawberry Perl distribution ( http://strawberryperl.com/ ) and for three months during 2008 I was funded by the Perl Foundation to natively implement Portability into Perl.

I'm happy to report that (a few beta bugs notwithstanding) it was a complete success. But now I've got a bit of a problem when it comes to doing the portableapps.com packaging...

Most school networks block access to the system tray on their computers (you don't even see it) so you can't click on an already running PAM icon to see it. Also it's a hassle to find the root folder of your USB device to double click on "Start PortableApps".

Can we implement (by we I mean you all:-P) a feature like U3's where there a little live button sitting on your desktop that you are able to click to open your running PAM?

Just so you know, your menu works great, and also I have the edit that changes how it looks and so on...

Hey everybody,

I'm wonderering if there are any portable applications around that opperates the same way that wallpaper swapper does?
wich means:...Load a preffered wallpaper on USB insert and reload original wallpaper when ejecting your USB.
Is it hard to build a similar portable appliction, or could any one tell my how to do that??

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right forum.
If I submit a portable app do I have to continually support it?
The app is written and works but I possibly will not provide ongoing updates.
Like here,

..you are willing to support it on an ongoing basis (at least 6 months).

What exactly does this mean? Ongoing updates for 6 months or every 6 months?
More or less if my project becomes inactive what happens?
