Could we please not abandon Firefox 115 ESR?

New version Firefox 115.16.0 ESR was just released today, and updates will officially continue well into 2025, with Mozilla saying they may be open to go further than 2025, given that hundreds of millions of machines are still using Windows 7/8, and they will obviously never get updated, since they don't have hardware requirements for Windows 11, and Windows 10 End of Life will be in 2025.

So kindly reconsider abandoning Firefox 115 ESR for Win 7/8 at portableapps?

Multiple Profiles Firefox (About 100++ Profiles)

Submitted by syahadattech on September 28, 2024 - 5:01am

Hi..

I have a few questions about Firefox Portable:

1. Is it possible to create 100+ profiles in Firefox Portable? I read on the support page that I need to use the "Firefox Portable 2nd Profile 2.0.2 app." Can I do this without using that app, just with one Firefox?

2. When I open "about:profiles" why is the Default profile located in C:/ and not in the F:/ path (where I installed PortableApps)? If I use it on another computer, does the profile not transfer with it? And when creating a new profile, does the location need to be set manually?

Hi John,
I have recently view this post on Portable Freeware https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=107536#p107536.
In this post there is a workaround for enable Translation feature in Mozilla Firefox, for All Desktop releases (Standard, Beta, Nightly and ESR).
In short this workaround consist of change (enable) an internal feature that is disabled by default (this feature is currently in Beta).

What are the purposes of these files created by Firefox Portable in \ProgramData?

Submitted by steve_ on June 22, 2024 - 12:07am

The file locations and contents:

C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxx-xx-xxx-xxxxxxxx\updates\FirefoxPortable\update-config.json
{"app.update.auto":false,"__DEFAULTS__":{"app.update.background.enabled":true}}

C:\ProgramData\Mozilla-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxx-xx-xxx-xxxxxxxx\profile_count_FirefoxPortable.json
{"version":"1","profileTelemetryIds":["xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxx-xxxxxx"]}

What are their purposes and how to turn them off?

Since Firefox Portables latest update pull down menu are mostly blank

Submitted by lcar21xyz on June 14, 2024 - 3:10pm

Since the latest update of Firefox Portable the pull down menu's like "copy and paste" or the "Main Setup Menu" are not showing any textual information. On the "Main Setup Menu" the Ctrl+ commands show but the text to the left of them does not display. To verify this seems to be a Firefox Portable issue I installed Firefox on my Computer and all it's pull down menu's are working properly.

Updating FF caused the "Firefox is already running, but is not responding" error. But only on one machine.

Okay, so I have two machines - each of them running Firefox Portable Dev Edition. One was v119, the other might have been v118.

I updated both of them to v127. Afterwards, Computer-A runs fine, but Computer-B gives the "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." error if you try to launch it again to open a new window (as opposed to Ctrl+N).

Can't get Firefox Portable to load websites properly... I've tried everything. :[

pretty much the title...

Firefox Portable in of itself runs perfectly fine on my laptop, but when I launch it from a third party app (an Antidetect Browser) it only half-loads most pages, there's missing fields and everything is all scrambled

for example, I can't check out on my Amazon account and when I went to purchase a gift card from Uber Eats earlier today, the email field was missing

any help would be appreciated!

I've tried just about everything
