Firefox Downloads from Sourceforge Failing

For the past several months, downloads of Firefox portable routinely fail, or take excruciatingly long to download. This occurs in either the 'automatic' update within the Portableapps platform, or if I try to download the paf.exe file directly from Sourceforge. I only seem to have this issue with the Mozilla portable apps, Firefox and/or Thunderbird. I have no issues with any other portable apps I use. Other large downloads, such as Chrome, are quick and error free. Is this a Sourceforge issue?

XPCOM Error and New Install Don't Work

Only problems with Firefox since version 44.0. Most of the errors are already addressed in other threads but I got an error saying “can’t load XPCOM”. I have done a check disk from Windows Vista and it did some repairs of broken items on the external hard drive. It didn’t make any difference. Then I followed advice I found online for the regular Firefox and uninstalled everything, after taking back up, of course.

font display issues after update from 43 to 44

Hi there,

after updating my Firefox Portable from 43.0.4 to 44.0.2, some text is displayed wonky here and there. The fonts look pixelated and sometimes also the colour is off, interestingly.

I remembered I had issues with this before and that I fixed it with either hardware accelation and/or anti-alias settings, so I fiddled with these in the FF config, but it didn’t change anything. I also checked my Windows settings, all fine, ClearType is on and fine-tuned. I also re-started FF in Safe Mode, the problem persisted.

Updating firefox with the built-in updater

Does it make any difference if I update firefox with the built-in updater?
I've been doing that until now, but I read in the firefox support page that I could lose some data.....??
Nothing bad has happened yet, but I just want to know if it's ok to update firefox with the built-in updater...
Thanks in advance... Smile
