Continous updating fo multiple accounts

Submitted by rameez on October 20, 2006 - 5:39am

Hi,
I use TB 2 Alpha 1.I also used outlook express before which had an option to check messages after a certain number of minutes, and then all the accounts created would get updated automatically. It had not problem with the number of accounts.
How ever I have set TB to work with two POP accounts, and both have been set to get
mails after a certain number of minutes, the problem is it seems that only one mail gets updated.and i have to manually click get all mail button to get the other account to get it;s mail.
Is there a way to set TB to get mails for all the accounts after a certian number of minutes as in Outlook express.

Sync Thunderbird with Thunderbird Portable?

Submitted by radioheadboy on October 19, 2006 - 4:56pm

Hi,

I have decided to use normal Thunderbird on my home computer and Portable Thunderbird on a USB stick at work to view RSS feeds.

Is it possible to sync the the Portable Thunderbird to my home computer when I get home? Is it as simple as what is on the Support page - "Copying you local Thunderbird settings" just in reverse?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

All messages marked unread if I use PTB on a computer never used before

Submitted by rmiraPTB on October 18, 2006 - 8:02pm

Hello,

I have searched the forum for "unread" in order to make sure I am not repeating a previous post, and didn't find anything applicable. Sorry, if I missed something.

I have moved from 10 years of Eudora usage to PTB on a USB flash drive and love it. There is just one single issue, which I encountered. Every time I use PTB on a computer I never used it before, almost all mailboxes and all messages therein will be marked as unread again. The Shift-Ctrl-C command only works on folders without subfolders. Thus, it is rather painstaking to set all messages to read again.
Is there a way to stop this (the resetting to unread) from happening in the future?

Slooooow Down v1.5.0.5

Submitted by colfrank on October 17, 2006 - 5:50pm

Overnight TB slowed to a crawl.
Program load takes "forever", message loading is slow, Delting a msg is real slow.
Did Compact Folders.
Seems that I remember that deleting a file in each folder that will be rebuilt on startup fixes this problem.
Am I having a "Senior Moment" or is there a such a delete a file fix?
Regards,
Frank

Sent file still very big

Submitted by JohnTheRevelator on October 16, 2006 - 4:18pm

Hi folks!
Hope you can help me. Because I don't know why my sent file in Thunderbird Portable is still big. It is about 150 MB, but in my Sent-Folder are only ten
files. Their maximum size should be 6 MB, or something around that.
I had sent some files with a big attachment, but I have deleted them all.
Do you know why the file is still big?

Calendar Extension

I know there's already a link in PA.com for a calendar extension, but Mozilla is no longer working with it, instead they are working on Sunbird (a whole calendar app that John already has made portable) and Lightning (which is a TB or FF extension, similar to Calendar)

So here's my request. With calendar you could add a parameter to open the calendar without opening TB (see here). Is there a way to do this with the new Lightning extension? I'm guessing the only thing we (I) will need is the launcher to open the calendar.

Junk mail in the Thunderbird 2.0 alpha (a1)

Submitted by katzunit on October 15, 2006 - 12:50pm

I was never able to get the junk filter features to work in the most recent (I believe) Thunderbird portable 2.0 alpha. I'm running this on an XP machine off a U3 drive.

I found that the Junk folder did not automatically create, leading to various efforts on my part to create one myself. I have the mozillaZine "Junk messages not moved" and followed the instructions (thank you), but the ability to automatically moved Junk mail items to the Junk folder never appeared. I reinstalled a couple of times.

So I'm back with the released product 1.5.0.7 which works very well in this and other regards.
