Some users have been experiencing an issue when closing and then immediately re-opening Opera, Portable Edition that causes their settings to reset. We are actively working to resolve this and will release an update as soon as it is resolved. Until then, please refrain from closing and then restarting Opera quickly.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I did that two times, and it is a little annoying.
But, thanks for this release!

This is my first post here, so I first want to say Thanks, you folks do GREAT work here. I really appreciate it.

I prefer Opera as a browser, but I must say I've had this and similar issues many times. Most often what happens is something in Opera portable gets hung up and it won't allow me to release the USB drive. I try stopping processes with process manager, but it isn't always apparent what process is hanging it up. At any rate, this sort of thing, and the close-reopen issue has several times caused me to lose all my settings, including emails and email settings. Even today, my email got hung up checking the server, I tried stopping the email check, but it kept hanging up while checking email. So, I closed Opera. I waited until the light on the drive stopped blinking, and reopened. I got a warning that another instance of Opera was closing down, so I clicked cancel, and waited again. When the light stopped blinking, I tried again. This time Opera opened, but all my settings, all my emails had been lost. So, I give up, for now, on Opera portable. I'm going with your Seamonkey Portable.

Anyway, don't let my point be lost in this long post. It isn't so much a complaint as information to share so you can solve the problem. I think you folks do GREAT work, I love and use many of the apps and check every day for whatever is new or updated! Thanks.

i have to agree.
I love this site and the work you guys do.
I have been an Opera Enthusiast for many years.

Now that Opera has added Extensions and Widgets, Firefox will soon fall by the waist-side.

Thank You.

I use PortableApps on my PC..

I use Opera as a PortableApp on my memory stick so I can take my bookmarks and email account with me to whichever computer I have to use at work or at home. Yesterday, whilst it was open on my work laptop, it went extremely slow - stopped, basically - because it was downloading an update automatically. Whilst installing the update an error message popped up, which I understood meant that the update had failed, but it required a restart. Today, I have connected my USB stick to my home PC, opened Opera only to find that it is like a new install - default Speed Dial, no Email account - but the strangest thing is all my bookmarks have gone and been replaced by a colleague's Favourites from Internet Explorer on the work laptop.

Fortunately I still have most of my bookmarks on my other stick with U3 Opera.

The other thing I don't understand is the update was for Opera 11.10 which is not yet available from PortableApps. I hope this is soon because I don't feel happy using Opera now until it is updated.

I might take a look at SeaMonkey.
