logoPortableApps.com and The Document Foundation are proud to announce the release of LibreOffice Portable 3.6.1. LibreOffice Portable is a full-featured office suite -- including a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, drawing package and database -- packaged as a portable app, so you can take all your documents and office suite wherever you go. This release updates LibreOffice to the latest version and improves runtime library detection. And it installs in as little as 260MB. LibreOffice Portable is packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. And it's open source and completely free.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

LibreOffice Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.

I installed the new LO 3.6.1 over the latest version and now when I want to start LO it crashes at startup with: LibreOffice 3.6 is not functioning any more. On Windows 7...

SOLUTION: I shortened the path of portableapps and now it works again. Annoying a little bit.

Ok, there are two issues with this release. The first is an issue with long paths where LibreOffice crashes. The solution for this issue is this fix for long paths.

The second issue is with the launcher asking you to install Visual C++ runtimes when they are already there. The solution is to use this updated launcher with improved Visual C++ runtime handling. This launcher was supposed to be included with 3.6.1 but was not due to a build error.

Consequently, we're packaging up a 3.6.1.1 release that will be posted in the next couple days. We're also going to be building an update installer for folks already using 3.6.1 so they don't have to download a 120MB+ installer again.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I had a different problem of LO not loading at all. But I was able to make it work by Deleting the Data folder but preserving the (uno_packages)folder first located in X:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable\Data\settings\user\uno_packages. That is because all Add-ons and plugins are located there. After preserving and deleting the Dtata folders, run LO one more time to make all the files needed then close LO and move the preserved folder to its original place. Now your good to go with all your add-ons! Enjoy!!! Smile

Hi there,

I've got the problem, that saving of .doc produces a crash. Saving .odt works fine. So what can I do?

Thanks.
