Multiple installers

Now that I have a few (dozen) apps I like, and I have helped people make their own PA drives, I have to say that there's one thing I don't like. Installing the apps. I've looked around, but I couldn't find any way to install a large amount of apps with a single button press, and then let everything extract. Instead, I have to repeatedly click options, install, choose one app at a time, wait for it to extract, and then repeat for each app. It takes about 20 minutes for me to make a new PA install on a local disk, and then 4-10 minutes to copy it to a thumb drive. The wait isn't what bothers me though, it's having to guide each app installation.

So I guess the paraphrase of that is: "I love using PA, but is there a way to make installing it less involved?"

What about the Suite?

It lest you install some Apps at once with about 3 or 4 clicks...
(but I admit that if you want Apps which arent included there it gets difficult)

No.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about installing new apps or making an entirely new installation. (To the original poster: Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Also, for new users, it would be best to call it by its official name: PortableApps.com Updater. My reasoning is that if he searches for "PAUpdater," he won't find squat.

Multiple installations

If you want to do several installations of the same portable apps, install the suite plus all wanted apps to a local hard disk once and copy the whole bunch to as many flash drives as needed.

A silent install should be possible according to this posting. But be careful: Some apps offer additional components (like languages and add-ons).

If the selected apps differ every time I'd suggest to use the PortableApps Updater (still in development) with the appropriate settings in settings.ini. This way you have to install manually the Platform_Only and the Updater. The rest of the installation can be done via the Updater and can spare you some interaction.

A caveat: At first check the licenses of the apps if you consider to redistribute your compilation.

If you can program....

You can build a multi installer.

self.path = path if self.path == None else self.path
