ClamWin: How do I keep my USB & Desktop Secure & Safe?

Greetings!

I'm new to using USBs and portable apps and I need advice.

How can I keep my usb & desktop secure & safe from viruses/malware?

Do I need to format the usb prior to using? If so, how?

If I want to erase everything and clean the usb to reuse it, do I need a special app for that or just delete?

I will be downloading Clamwin and SpyDLLRemover Portable, but do I also need something like Panda Vaccine for my desktop or any other program(s)? What about Autorun-Eater?

I've also come across an app that you can use to have a password for more security. Which is the best?

Any other suggestions/ideas or something else I need to know?

Thanks for any help! Smile

Reformat

That's called reformatting. It requires admin priveledges though. It's not the same as deleting everything.

This is a good list of portable anti-malware programs.

If you mean to password protect passwords, there's KeePass Portable. If you want to password-protect files, there's TrueCrypt and FreeOTFE. They are perfect for supreme paranoia.

In the end, if you want to keep yourself safe from viruses, run ClamWin Portable as much as possible.

[Edit] I forgot Safe Portable App-ing.

Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.
