As last weekend was my "kidneyversary", I wanted to again make a shameless blog post to remind everyone of the importance of being an organ donor.

Hi All,
I've posted a detailed incident report on the causes of, solutions to, and future mitigation steps for the PortableApps.com site outage that occurred on April 3rd and 4th to our forums. You can read the complete details in the forum topic Site Outage Summary and Incident Report (April 3-4, 2025).
I wanted to let everyone know of a few changes on the site. I'm testing out a new ad provider, ezoic. As part of this new integration, you may temporarily notice some extra ads - in some cases quite a lot - depending on your area of the world. This is part of the integration process as the machine learning figures out the optimum placement and type of ads for the audience. I'd like to extend my apologies for the temporary inconvenience. I'd mentioned this in the forum but wanted to ensure folks knew about this more widely.
It is with great sadness that I announce that our financial advisor and business liaison officer, my father, Jack Haller has passed away. I am thankful for his life and thankful that he is no longer suffering. I was lucky enough to get to spend a few extra months with him this year to get to know him and his life before me even better, even against the heartbreaking backdrop of ALS progression. He passed peacefully surrounded by family.
As today is my "kidneyversary", I wanted to again make a shameless blog post to remind everyone of the importance of being an organ donor. As some long-time PortableApps.com users know, I donated a kidney to my father 23 years ago today. Over the years, I've also coached a few people though the process.
As today is my "kidneyversary", I wanted to again make a shameless blog post to remind everyone of the importance of being an organ donor. As some long-time PortableApps.com users know, I donated a kidney to my father 20 years ago today. We're both doing well. Over the years, I've also coached a few people though the process.
So folks in the community know, I had Covid-19, recovered, and tested positive for antibodies. I couldn't get tested while sick due to the ongoing lack of testing in the United States. My case was better than it could have been: One friend, a triathlete in his late 30s, was in the hospital for 27 days and needed surgery to drain his lungs. My 40 year old neighbor was rushed to the hospital with a collapsed lung and needed two surgeries weekend before last.
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has any contacts with Folding@home. I have Folding@home Portable built, tested, and ready to go to help with simulating potentially druggable protein targets on Coronavirus, but don't have any contacts with Folding@home to get it approved for release. Any assistance is appreciated! Stay safe and healthy out there everyone.
Best
John
Calling all translators, the deadline for translations for the Platform 15 release is tomorrow morning at 8am.
I'm pleased to announce a new trial partnership with DuckDuckGo, the Internet privacy company, to host some of the downloads you will get from PortableApps.com. DuckDuckGo's popular search engine, tracker blocking extension, and mobile apps are built around user privacy and security, so their ideals line up perfectly with ours. We've been searching for a new provider for some time and this seems like a natural fit.
