Just curious, has the launcher been improved? Or is it another "known bugs aren't fixed release"? Pardon
*thinks official apps should be improved too and not "just" updated.

The 21750-Bug, following your syntax, was reported by me, and I just tested LS 1.01 on the system it didn't work on before, and it now works. Thanks!

Hi Guys,

I tried LightScreen (LS) and just compared the image (png) size of the whole screen capture created by TNT to that created by the LS
TNT - 2.2 MB
LS - 5.6 MB

So what I'm doing wrongly and how to test OptiPNG feature, which suppose to create a smaller size ... "without loosing quality" ???

Thanks in advance

very nice app but the "Magnifying glass in Area mode" feature dont work properly!!

If i set lets say "printscreen" for "Area mode"

Now i hit "printscreen" to take a screenshot

The magnifying glass will not pop when i hit "printscreen"

It will pop after i click to the first point of the area i need to shot

this mean that i cant have "magnifying glass" for the first point! so it half works Sad

- In "Area mode" you have to click for the start point
- to release click for the end point
"magnifying glass" is there only for the release click (hope you know what i mean)

"magnifying glass" should pop immediately after pressing "screenshot"

I guess thats the way it is supposed to work. If you want it to work different, it is best to submit a feature request to the original author as we only make a portable version of what he develops.

I hate to be a cynic but I wonder if I can actually print screen to the clipboard now. Pardon

It's kind of amusing that people are agonizing about whether to promote a beta of Audacity as a portable app that's been stable for months, and then there's a stable release of this software (1.0) where half the features (ok, maybe an exaggeration) don't actually work.

On the plus side, happy to see this project isn't completely dead. Perhaps now I'll finally be able to replace my current screen capturing solution with a PAF app, which is always my preference.

Printing a screenshot to the clipboard works for me.
What are the other problems that you have with this?

The Clipboard option only works if you have the File option checked.

There are times when I want to just copy the screen shot (screen area) to the
clipboard and not create a file because I'm pasting the screen shots in an e-mail,
document, or presentation. My guess is that it puts the image to the clipboard
after it has written the file, but since the file is never written to you go through the motions and it is never put in the clipboard.

It isn't a big deal, but just an annoyance because I have to open the output folder and delete the files that get created that I didn't want. I thought it was Microsoft Office Clipboard causing the problem, but I took it out of the equation and I still had problems.

If I could change the settings to where there was 1 file created without a datestamp/sequence then it would be okay because I would just continually
overwrite the same file.

One workaround is to either change the output foldername to something like ThumbDrive\TempScreenShots and then have a batch file that will delete the images when you're done. You just have to remember to check the options everytime in case you actually do want to save them.

Still, it is a very worthwhile application/utility to have on your thumbdrive. It saves a considerable amount of time because I don't have to crop the images in another editor and then paste the cropped imaged into e-mail or document/presentation.

You could try and report it as a bug to the lightscreen dev.

I think this is the issue that I had, the application expects that both these things must occur yet gives you the option to select one or the other. It's a logic problem, and it's perfectly reasonable to expect that you can have one without the other.

I should not be forced to create a file, at least not on the front-end to create a clipboard copy. If the application needs to create temporary files behind then scenes to make the clipboard copy then that's up to the application to decide, not up to the user (because then I have to do garbage collection for the application).
