Best way to back up?

I seem to have lost my calendars in Sunbird somehow, I suspect by trying to sync PortableApps to my desktop and maybe it went in the wrong direction or something. In any case, they seem to be completely unretrievable. I have been very happy with using PortableApps, particularly Sunbird and the browser-based mail in Opera. What I would like to know is what is the best way to back up the whole PortableApps file to another drive, such as my regular desktop hard drive (I have PortableApps on a portable hard drive because I frequently use different computers). I want to be able to sync it regularly (daily) to an alternative location so that if anything happens to my portable hard drive that it is on, I can put it onto a new drive and everything will be as I had it, particularly my calendars and Opera mail. Can somebody please tell me the most efficient and reliable way to do this. I use GoodSync to sync other things and it is what I tried to use to sync PortableApps, but it didn't work. Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

You have a few options

Firstly, if all you want is a backup that you can later restore, try using the built-in backup utility that's part of the platform. See here.

Secondly, if you're looking to have a fully-functioning copy, you can use one of the many syncing utilities available as well, although I would recommend the current pre-release of Toucan. Some of your other options are: Checksum Control Portable, DSynchronize Portable, and Synkron Portable. There are, of course, other options, but these are all officially released here.

Ooops, too many tabs open

Oops, my mistake. Checksum Control isn't a synchronization program. Serves me right for not looking closely at the preview.
