App: Blender
Description: Blender Portable is the open source software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback.
Current Version: 2.49b
What's New? Blender has been updated to 2.57 (the new release). Python has been updated to 2.7.1. The launcher has been updated to Unicode and it's in the current PA.c Installer. The installer will now preserve plugins on upgrades. The command window is now hidden during launch and while running.

As this is a significant update and this is a more complex app, I want to ensure that the portablization is still working properly for power users before releasing this as final. Please post your test results!
Doesn't Blender now support Python 3.2?
I thought it better to play it safe and do 2.7 as most stuff doesn't support 3.x.

Hi John!
I'm not a guru, nor even and "n00b" I think! Hahahaha... But, then why the official Blender.org site says this:
"Blender 2.57 Zip Archive (28 MB)
Requires Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7, built with Python 3.2"
I'm a little bit confused.
I'm here to learn.
It's not included with the default download, though now, is it? I didn't see enough files in there for it to be a full Python install included with Blender. And the site doesn't seem to say it does, unless the Wiki hasn't been updated (which is possible).
Either way, does it work right now? And you can feel free to swap Python 3.2 for the included 2.7.1 (just delete the contents of the App\Python direcory and replace em) for testing purposes. More looking to ensure the app itself is actually working portably properly.

Hi John,
Python should be already within the package from Blender Foundation these days:
Blender - 2.57 - Python (approx. 21mb)
You should no longer need the seperate installation. The current 2.57b release is built with Python 3.2.
Unfortunately, I have been away from the scene for a long time now and I haven't done much with portable apps during this period. Keep up the good work.
All the best,
