Priority of supported applications

Hello!

I was looking some apps if they are portable or not. But I could not see them on the development or stable list. I think everyone here waits at least an app for making it portable.

I see this page: https://portableapps.com/apps/games
I am really appreciate for your work. But do you really think so many game apps should be portable? Developers should give %99 priority to the other applications. To play the games is not important like to use utilies apps, to scan for viruses, to burning datas,... and other million things that we do...

you are right , but

the site here is not only few months old, it is few years old and during this time many requests for games came in.

It can also as games are so many around.

World is funny, it goes to great extend to some entertainment apparently, I was surprised that few days ago the android market on my smartphone was renamed by the authors to play store.

We, the users of only the 'serious' programs must getting into minority I think.

Anything specific --> Request Forums

Most of your post looks like trolling, but I'll bite.

To play the games is not important like to use utilies apps, to scan for viruses, to burning datas,...

Portable utilities.
Such as? For system administration? Necessary utilities are provided with the OS. Better third party utilities usually need admin privileges. Or did you have something else in mind?
Scanning for viruses.
Why would you download viruses in the first place?
Burning, "as portable"?
Right. So, you are scared of viruses, yet you'd burn discs on a foreign PCs? No valued data should be used or burned on such PCs, period. CDs are also clunky and limited compared to flash drives.
The million things...
You mean, the actual work we do? Calculating interest rates, planning and control of finances, writing and printing documents, electronic correspondence (encrypted or otherwise), or in somebody else's case CAD-ing programs, Visual Studio and the like. Those are not "other million things", those are major things.

PortableApps offers more than enough essential programs around here. Office suites, portable email clients (even IM and IRC clients). Notepad++ for JavaScript, CSS and similar scripting development. Most major browsers and XAMPP for web development. Many media apps. It's missing official support for programs such as Wireshark, Truecrypt/FreeOTFE, some CAD program and similar, but those are harder to portabilize. Small, open source games are usually quite easy to portabilize. What do you have against them? (rhetoric question)

There are many portable utilities available, though you only mentioned virus scanning and CD burning, both of which are covered. Any particular request should be made in the Request Forums. And last but not least, take a look, more utilities than games --> https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities

My posts are old and likely no longer relevant.

dboki89 I will not disscuss

dboki89 I will not discuss my other post here.

I just need to say my opinion which has answered by ottosykora.

As our office we are thinking to use most of application portable. Because I'm interesting of computer more than other users arround me, some people ask me about this portable apps because they want to use them on their office too. Many people around me (including me) thinking to use this portable apps our home too. But if we could not found most of our utilities (i don't know English how to tell, sorry: I mean important apps), I think we could not start to use them. If we will change our complete system, we need more apps. Any way...

Thanks for interest...

just place request

place request in the proper section if you have demand for anything. If it sound reasonable, no legal restrictions and technically possible, then I am sure one of the dev will pick it up.

The portable apps are in fact meant to be used on a portable media like an usb stick and serve as temporary help if one is not able to get needed functionality otherwise.
So for that browsers, mail clients, readers and players for this and that are needed. Most of it is covered well, inclusive more serious things like full office suite, software development etc.

Some people will consider programs as serious only when it comes to microsoft or apple or adobe software, but well those things are not possible for legal reasons.

Utilities, many technical programs for just very special task are often not very useful to be made portable as there is no portable use for them.
Example are things like partitioning software or some system setup utils which can be used only by admins in some very special cases.

And personally I still do not find any reason I should use only portable apps for everything and everywhere, when I can use local installed full versions with all comfort.

If you try to find some program for some computer task, check first the list of published portable apps, you will probably find there a program doing exactly what you want.
For example burning CD, well you might be used to Nero or something like that, but you will find here number of similar programs doing exactly the same job.

So if you need some special program, simply place a request.
