App: Geany Portable
Description: Geany Portable is cross-platform, GTK based Integrated Development Platform. You can work on simple text files, html, perl, python, NSIS and more with Geany. By using Geany Portable's built path-additions support, you can even configure Geany Portable so that Geany can use the compilers located locally on your flash drive. Bundled with a PortableApps.com Launcher as a portable app, you can take Geany with you.
Testing: This update of Geany has some custom installer work as well as being packaged in 3.0 format and UPX compressed for the first time. Ensuring proper upgrades from older versions (0.19 and 0.21) as well as new installs is key.

Please give this a try and report your findings, thanks.
I tested this on WinXP and found that it left some files in the %temp% dir named GEAXX.tmp.
To re-create my test:
- open GeanyPortable
- File > New (with template) > main.java
- Compile
I found this using the apps listed here: https://portableapps.com/node/32118#comment-194270
I didn't see anything left behind in the registry. I also didn't do a very thorough test of the program it'self.
Hi,
I am experiencing an issue with "find" and "replace" dialogs in Portable version of Geany ver 0.20. 0.21 Pre-Release 1 does not seem to fix this problem. The problem is that these dialogs wouldnt show up in at least two machines I tested (XP and Windows 7). But, the official Geany 0.21 (not the portable ver) works fine under Windows 7. The strange thing is that Geany Portable 0.20 was working just fine for quite some time but all of a sudden this problem started in about one month ago. Any pointer? GTK2 related? Windows updates? Anyone else seeing this problem here???
I would suggest a fresh install to make sure your copy isn't corrupt.

thanks for that. Now I remembered that I put some nightly built binaries and dlls into the portable version folder to manually update to 0.21 a while ago and totally forgot about it. I will try clean install in my office PCs tomorrow.
that was it. it was totally my mistake then. thanks again for your suggestion, John!
I just noticed that after clean installation of Portable version of Geany 0.20, the application is themed like Windows classic but the official non-portable version is correctly themed as the system setting (one of Aero themes in my case).
I found that PortableApps\GeanyPortable\App\Geany\lib\gtk-2.0 folder in the portable version was empty. After copying the whole gtk-2.0 folder from the official to the portable one, the issue was fixed.
Is this a packaging issue?
Do you mean this test 0.21 or the old 0.20? If 0.20, then yes, it is a packaging issue with it. 0.21 should not have the same issue.
