There are some outdated apps which cannot be upgraded. Is it not better to notify people of this on the download page of the apps?
For example, we can show a message like this on the Openoffice.org page:
Openoffice.org has a more recent version, [latest_version_number] but we do not have a portable edition since we do not have legal approval to do this.
... or the Gnumeric page:
Gnumeric has a more recent version, [latest_version_number] but we do not have a portable edition since there are no Windows builds of it
Just an idea, which might prevent many confused folks from posting on the forums and bring down the load on the Portableapps official members, though maybe only slightly.
OOo Portable does have a notice, but that is a very special case. Gnumeric isn't outdated. If you go download Gnumeric for Windows from their site, you get the same version we have. We just have that section of notes on the outdated page for overzealous folks who notify us there is a new version when there isn't.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
