HexChat

It is already portable, another Xchat fork but eats much less disk space than Pchat. Auto-updates itself. It's an IRC client.

Edit.

Here you can read about HexChat's shareware background, aka. license, a long read:
http://www.hexchat.org/home/shareware-background
But it's open source!

RE: Hexchat

What exactly are you asking for? you seem to beat around the bush but give no clear suggestions. More detail would be good.

Just that you can add it to

Just that you can add it to the official PortableApps directory. Besides Pchat.

Um. A link to their web site?

Um. A link to their web site? I didn't think of it as something secretive only I am aware of, in the age of Google.

OK, seriously: Why is it better than Pchat? So far I found that it eats a 1/3 of disk space as I mentioned, and they have a cool service at #hexchat. Also their website is quite useful with tips. Probably the #freenode guys can tell you more why it's cool.

Yes, when requesting apps, we

Yes, when requesting apps, we especially like it when you include a link to the app's official website, a description of what the app does, and (if you can find it) some idea of the licence.

Obviously since you mentioned Pchat, we can figure out what it does. But a web link is critical to help us help you.

Among other things it:

  • Removes the chance of confusion when potential developers try to find the app. In some cases there are multiple apps with the same name (the base app of the officially released Pencil Project Portable is actually called Pencil, and there is a 2D animation app out there also called Pencil of which we have a beta test)
  • Helps us find the most recent version. Some apps have numerous versions around the internet. A link to the official website should usually help us find the most up-to-date one.
  • Helps us find the licence. Many software distribution sites like CNet etc list Open Source software simply as freeware. The official site will usually offer us the exact licence information we need.
  • Means less work for the developers who look at your request. We are the ones who are hopefully going to help you by packaging the apps you request, the least you can do is make our job a little easier in return.

Hello trustu!

Use Nettalk: http://www.ntalk.de/Nettalk/en/
Nettalk for USB Flash Drive (1,19 MB): http://www.ntalk.de/Nettalk/Files/Nettalk6usb_EN.zip
Unzipped application folder size have only 2,79 MB. For usage in Platform you can place this Nettalk folder in PortableApps folder, but need hide Update.exe (with right-click in Menu over 'Update', then select 'Hide').

And here Aluísio A. S. G. Nettalk Development Test: https://portableapps.com/node/29054

Thanks for the correction, @Parastais !

Update: everyone and their dog on IRC (at least those on Windows) recommend HexChat. So why use anything else than that? Wink
