Are you aware of mwayne's Development Test release found here?
Oh, I haven't seen this before
A few months ago, I completely switched to Linux (now Arch btw). So, I'll be no longer active creating portable apps for Windows. Thanks for all the helpful software, guys!
Wow, this is AMAZING!! I have just tried and works good!!
Maybe could be better if you could remove all the packages to makes it smaller, just to have the base!! I just use python with pydev packages.
There are any chances of doing pycharm community 2016.3 into portable?
Thanks!!
I've done it!
You can now also download the "Platform Runtime Binary" version, which includes only the most necessary packages.
This version does not include Java or other special things.
However, I can not help you with PyCharm Portable, because I don't work with it. :/
Best wishes,
Berny23

Talking about pycharm. Is it difficult to do? I don't have any idea to do it, and could be great to be able to have it!!
Hey! I've made a basic portable version of PyCharm. You can download it at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pycharm-portable
I can't promise that all features work. But I hope so.
Best wishes,

This is no PortableApps.com compliant package. It is a zip file rather than a PAF package. Please have a look at the development section (see header).
I did no further research in your files, because I don't need another zip package. (I did not download it, sorry)
New Installer added!
Thanks for your note. I have now also added a .paf.exe installer. (For now just Eclipse OXYGEN 4.7M5 Platform Runtime Binary [Portable].paf.exe)
I hope it works!

Hey I'm trying to make this work but can't. I tried all 3 versions (I would like for oxygen to work) but cant make it work. My problem is the java. I create a jre folder just like you described and copy and paste the contents of the java64 folder into it, and I tried installing the java64 right into the jre folder but when i start eclipse it just doesn't recognize that i have java. Please help I would really like this to work for school.
please give me the following information:
- OS of your Schools Computer (Windows 10, 8 or 7)
- And most important: 64bit or 32bit
If your Computer is 32bit, you have to download the 32bit portable Java and the 32bit version of portable eclipse.
Here you can see all versions of my portable eclipse: https://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipse-neon-portable/files/
32bit is located under: x32 Versions -> Final Versions
If you have still problems with java i've attached a screenshot of what your folder system should look like:

The computer I am currently working on is a windows 10 64bit, so all of the files I downloaded should work. I tried the 32 bit version for sh*ts and gigs but that didn't work either. I looked at the screen shot, and my files are identical. Is there a download with java already working? Or is there something else I could be doing wrong?
Thanks for the help!
Hi natapper,
i made a short video that shows the installation.
Please watch it and reinstall everything like in the video: https://youtu.be/mpVrj0Bf13Y
If it still doesn't work, try turning off your anti-virus software or try another PC.
I hope I could help you

So I have what you have, however I am unable to write anything in java. I may have not made myself clear the first time, but that is my issue. If I try to write something, I am unable to actually run it.
I am so sorry for the hassle I caused you I figured out what I did wrong I simply never added the java environment. I do apologize for that.
It's ok, nice that it works now

When taking Eclipse Portable (64 bit) from a 64 bit PC to a 32 bit PC, the launcher silently exits without any message. The launcher should report an error in this instance instead of silently failing. (Windows 7, 32 bit)
Simplifying daily life through technology
Thanks for your message.
If the Eclipse Foundation has not added this feature, it will not be displayed. Unfortunately, I don't have time to think about a way to find out the Windows version of the user and show a message;)
Just make sure you have both versions with you when working on 32- and 64bit PCs.

Hi Berny23 (and everyone else)!
I am using your great Portable Eclipse (x64 Photon) with JDK Portable (x64 SE 8) using your instructions above except that instead of using the files from the Java64 folder files I am using the JDK64 folder files. This works fine for straight up compiling but it fails for debugging, throwing the following error as soon as it hits System.out.println() or any other internal Java method:
PrintStream.println(String) line: 805
Source not found.
Z:\EclipsePhoton\EclipsePortable\App\eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe (Mar 14, 2018, 9:58:15 AM)
How do I configure this so that debug will see the JDK source files and work as intended?
Hi Aguy2014,
thanks for your message.
You just need the normal java runtime environment and not the jdk:https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable
After putting the files into the jre folder do this:
- Run Eclipse Portable
- Go to "Help" -> "Install new software"
- Select your eclipse version by clicking the small arrow next to "Add"
- search for "java" in the search bar
- Tick "Eclipse Java Development Tools" and hit finished.
- after installation click on "restart eclipse"
With kind regards,
Berny23

Is it possible to change the title/name(task manager) of your portable version of eclipse to another(Excel, Adobe....)? - Hide for co-workers.
And I have problem to find option to create new class, enum, Interface....

Hi caaaaaaaa,
I don't now if its possible to rename a process, but you could google it.
And to work with Eclipse Portable you have to install the programming language you want to use:
Go to "Help" -> "Install New Software" and select your version by clicking the small arrow next to "Add".
Select your desired packages after a short delay and click on finished.
For Java use Eclipse Java Development Tools (or similar).
If the "Class-Shortcut" doesnt show just click on "Other" -> "Java" -> "Class".

Works perfectly ty and have a nice day.
Now i must find to hide/rename eclipse process.
Maybe you will change [Launch] section in Launcher/EclipcePortable.ini:
from this
to this
and add two Environment Variables to [Environment] section:
Instead of running StartScript.bat to copy full Java directory to eclipse directory?
I will test it in a VM and on a real USB device as soon as the new Eclipse version is released.
I admit that I was too lazy to read the whole documentation on the config files when I created them a few years ago. ^^

ok)) I am also too lazy, but sometime I have to read documentation)) this method works on my VM
Ok, I’ve rebuilt and reuploaded every single file from Eclipse 4.6 to 4.19 to sourceforge. They should all be working the same way with your config change. I also edited the wiki pages to reflect the new installation method.

I've tried both the 4.22 and the 4.22 Dev test versions of Eclipse listed on this thread. In both cases I have received the error when starting that the JVM version 11 or higher is required. After installing the PAF version of JDK I have copied in the JDK 17 - nothing seems to work in the several instances I have tried to get Eclipse running in the portable environment. Anyone have a solution to this?
Step-by-step is much preferred.
I do have Apache / XAMPP up and running just fine on USB - ultimately I'd like to run Maven using Eclipse in the portable environment.
I already have a step-by-step guide on how to install my portable version of Eclipse.
https://sourceforge.net/p/eclipse-neon-portable/wiki/Home/#installation=
Please make sure your folder structure is correct (like in the first picture). I just released version 4.23 and tested it in a brand-new Windows 10 virtual machine without any additional software. It worked as intended, so the problem you describe is probably not caused by my portable version.
