I was automatically updated to V25.2.2 in Libre Office Portable this morning. I know this because when I tried to open a .docx folder, it stalled and I was brought to your update page at https://whatsnew.libreoffice.org/25.2.2/. I didn't realize this portable version updates itself.
Anyway, now when I click on either a .doc or .docx file I have, I see a flash of something I can't make out for a millisecond, and it takes the file roughly 10-12 seconds to open. Before the update, the file opened immediately.
I'm using Windows 10 Pro V22h2. Of course I restarted my pc to see if that helped things, but I think there might be an issue with the program caused by this update.

Update 25.2.2 stalls LibreOffice from opening
Did you associate files with LibreOffice? If you used LibreOffice to associate the files, it will be running in local mode rather than portable mode. Associations should be made manually to LibreOfficePortable.exe.
Are you sure you were 'automatically updated'? The updater has been removed from LibreOffice Portable as of recent releases so this should be impossible. Do you know what version you were running before?
You should be able to fix the issue by upgrading it manually back to the current release using the Standalone method: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#upgrading
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
When I first downloaded Libre Office a few weeks ago from this page it was version 25.2.1. At that time I re-associated the files that are appropriate with Office Writer by using the traditional method of using Windows 10 settings and styled the layout to my liking to create my preferred template. The program worked GREAT. So I backed up the users directory within Libre Office.
Then as I mentioned above I was automatically updated to Version 25.2.2. on Fri April 19. No matter if it was an associated file like a .doc or .docx, or opening the program via the desktop shortcut I made, the program flashed, did not open for about 12 seconds and then opened using my template. I still had the installer from 25.2.1, so yesterday I uninstalled the app and re-installed it, very quickly rushing to get to the "auto update button" and disabling it. Once again the program works fine though it's own profile had to be removed and restored with my backup. Once again, everything works fine John. I did learn one thing. This issue had nothing to do with a corrupt profile.
One question and of course your thoughts ... How do you associate files within Libre Office? Thanks for your interest.
I can't find any update prompt or button within LibreOffice Portable 25.2.1. Clicking Help - Check for Updates does nothing, as expected, as the updater component is not included with LibreOffice Portable. Where are you seeing a prompt?
For associations, did you manually select Other apps and browse to associate LibreOfficePortable.exe specifically?
EDIT: I got it to occur by switching back and forth and restarting a couple times. I've worked up a proper fix for the next release. Thanks for reporting.

you can associate file types with libreoffice, but do as john said above, to portable exe.
not sure if also possible to set as standard app, as browser and mail.
but to portable exe, the launcher, if understood right, as otherwise break portability.
i'm also interessted if i got that right, we get possibly feedback on that later.
thx
