I have put this into the .paf format for those of you looking for an ID3 tag program. Thought about doing this when another post (https://portableapps.com/node/5299) had to be removed. In the meantime the launcher has been posted as a singular product to abide with the forum rules.
EasyTAG (GNU General Public License) is a utility for viewing and editing tags for MP3, MP2, MP4/AAC, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack and Monkey's Audio files. Its simple and nice GTK+ interface makes tagging easier.
Feedback etc. welcome.

I have been a fan of all your previously released projects, so I'm sure that once this is out of Beta it won't be an exception. That said, I simply cannot get easytag to run. I have downloaded the app multiple times and run the self-extracting file in different locations. Each time I try to run it I get the same error(s). First the Windows error that "easytag.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close . . ." If I click on the link to get more information about this error it says:
Error Signature
AppName: easytag.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: libglib-2.0.0.dll
ModVer: 2.6.6.0 Offset: 0004117d
I will try it at work on a clean pc and let you know tomorrow if I have the same problem.

Looks good, works fine, one thing though, your Readme file in the EasyTAGPortableSource directory is the readme for the GaimPortable Launcher

Simple mistake. Thats because I used it as the template. I will update ready for another test release if required otherwise it will be corrected for the full release.

its no big deal, i dont think it requires an updated test release, just waiting for the full release should be fine

App has been updated and moved from beta testing.
A few other apps have been updated too but their threads are still locked from the recent upgrade to the forums.

Just the thing I was looking for; thanks.
Anyway, give us a link to the topics and I'll unlock them for you.
Also, one last thing. You don't mind if I update all the apps on my site and add the new ones, do you? (as long as I can download all of them from your site)

That looks good to me Ryan. Although the download size is wrong.
Here are the threads that are locked, the others are still working:

The reason the download size was wrong was because the file uploaded was wrong. I was only getting partial downloads from your server, because I forgot to cleanup my downloads. The file size and MD5 are generated dynamically from the file on the server. I'll also get a download counter up soon...

The download link is blacklisted at work for whatever reason and Ryan's blog says "You cannot download this file" so if someone can send it over to me at [nevermind] I'd appreciate it so I could try it out. I've been looking for a program like this for my USB stick for a while. Otherwise I'll get it at home, but I just started a 12-hour shift, so it would be nice to tinker with beforehand.
//edit: Ixnay on the email-ay. I asked my wife to download it and email it my way, but she said that the Download link up there redirected her to the root of the URL and it was just a search engine. So I guess either it was taken down, and/or the domain got sold (the latter being more likely).
We need an actual tagging program up here, or a media player that supports changing them.
i have a quick question about this i havent got a chance to test it yet because im not at home but is this a one by one or can you select a bunch of them at once for editing?
I clicked on the download link and it took me to a "This localhost page can’t be found" error message. Is Portable Portable still available and, if so, is there a link? Thanks
Hi dikliu,
I found EasyTag Portable is still available on SourceForge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gpw/files/EasyTAG%20Portable/2.1/
I "installed" it to a Win7 system. On first launch a Windows 'error' message came up saying the software might not have installed properly with an offer of two options. First option was to try and install it correctly. Second option was to confirm that it had installed correctly. I chose the second option then EasyTag launched and seemed okay. However, when I shut it down I, once again, got the same Windows 'error' message with the same two options. Again, I chose the option that said it was installed correctly. On subsequent launches and shutdowns I did not get this error message again.
Should add that I already had an EasyTag Portable that I created myself years ago as a ThinApp. Whenever I launch it on my Win7 system I get a Windows Installer dialogue showing up which says that software is being installed - even though I know that the ThinApp is installing nothing to the system. Should add that when I used to launch the ThinApp on my, then, WinXP system I didn't get this installer nonsense - which suggests to me this stuff for both my own ThinApp portable and this PortableApps portable that the problem lies with Win7 and not the app itself.
In any case, you have the link now and can test out EasyTag Portable for yourself. It is a really good tagger with some very well thought out functionality to it. Used it for years and very happy with it.
P.S. I did a quick check and found that it does write some stuff into a folder that gets created on the system drive AppData\Local\Temp folder. On shut down it deletes the content of the folder it creates with exception of a file titled "newadvsplash.dll". Nothing really serious, it's okay to delete it and the folder it is contained in on as part of your normal cleaning out of the Temp folder.
I'm surprised that no one at PortableApps has picked up on this EasyTag Portable project and produced a slightly better behaved implementation.
Use Portable Apps on both Flash Drive and HDD/SSD.
