portable Firefox auto-importing Bookmarks/ Add-ons - can it be disabled?

Submitted by talkative on October 25, 2008 - 11:07pm

Firefox Portable automatically imports:
* Bookmarks
* Add-Ons
...from my current Firefox 2 (non-portable) installation.

1) Is there a way of disabling this?
2) Is there a way to get green BACK and FORWARD buttons like the desktop release, not the current blue ones?

firefox problem - clicking buttons? Can't log into any sites that require you to click

Recently updated my firefox portable to the newest version. Since then, I cannot log into or do much within the browser that requires me to click a button.

ie: logging into hotmail, or facebook. enter the name and password..then click enter.. and nothing works.

firefox stays running after exit

Hi All

If I close ff and then the papps menu and click the windows icon to remove my device I get a message that the device is still being used. If I do the same thing a second time everything goes normally. No ff process (or any other papps proc that I can see) shows in the task manager after exiting ff, but this does not happen if I use the papps menu but not ff.

A minor annoyance but would even just like to know what causes it.

Ta!

Submitted by gregnorris on October 23, 2008 - 4:38pm

I found a site that has something about a portable java but, I'm not sure if it will work or not. Also, I've been having issues with save as. I've tried it on multiple computers all but 1 of which were running XP. The other was a Vista. Almost forgot the site for the java thing is http://www.pendriveapps.com/2008/09/08/portable-java-run-java-from-a-fla...

Portable Firefox reads registry

Hi there

My PC is a Lenovo T61p with Vista Ultimate SP1. Lenovo has a pre-installed "ThinkVantage ClientSecuritySolution" (CSS). Part of that (crap) is a Password Manager (PWM) that integrates itself since the newest version as an Add-On in Firefox over the following registry entry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions]
"{FCF36B88-1BBA-487f-B64B-D2E8980A9293}"="C:\\Program Files\\Lenovo\\Client Security Solution\\PWM Firefox Extension"

3.0.3: Search box broken

Here is the error console report

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE) [nsIJSCID.getService]" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/search/search.xml :: initialize :: line 527" data: no]

I'm guessing some file got corrupted?

A fresh install is fine, but I'd rather not loose all my cookies and saved form/passwords.

Firefox always crashes after restart following plugin install

Submitted by peterg75 on October 20, 2008 - 11:38am

After successfully installing a plugin or a theme, and restarting firefox using the Restart button an an add-ons screen, the app never comes up. Instead I get Mozilla crash detector asking me whether I want to quit or restart. If I press restart then a generic version of FF comes on (without using my profile) if I quit it and start normally, it comes up normally with all plugins properly functioning. So it seems that a profile gets hosed every time after plugin install (or update) but fixes itself on cold restart.
