change firefox.exe filename

Submitted by onesixtyfourth on September 11, 2008 - 5:06am

Hi,

our IT department has added firefox to our virus list and the file firefox.exe gets deleted when you attempt to run it. To get around this I need to change the executables name but I can't find where I do this. I have looked through some of the files inside FirefoxPortable and found settings that appear to be pointing to the executable but changing these does not work. Is there a way I can do this.

Profiles

Submitted by schwooba on September 9, 2008 - 12:00pm

Howdy...is there a way to setup a profile that will work with FFPE? I tried using the firefoxportable.exe --profilemanager, but it doesn't work. Or does anyone else have an idea of how to secure FF so I only need to login once and then I can access all my saved passwords, cookies etc? Truecypt would be great, but it requires admin rights to secure an entire USB.

Thanks in advance.

firefox detaching tab without reloading the page is this posible ?

iv been using opera and now i really close to moving across to FF because its heaps better but one last thing is can we detach the tabs with the page reloading option ???

and also when its been detached can this window be resized smaller so it can hide in the corner of my screen... the whole point of detaching a page is so i can still browse my main page with normal size but the detached one abit smaller without affecting my main page when i re-open it. Opera user will know what i mean..

Clip and Paste function not working with Firefox and Blackboard

Submitted by Ed Papenfuse on September 8, 2008 - 1:06pm

I need instructions on where and how to place a user.js file so that my portable apps firefox browser and Zotero can interact with the Blackboard we are using in my seminar this semester.

How do I construct the file and where do I place it? I assume it follows the model:

user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "allowclipboard");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "http://bboard.mcckc.edu");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.cutcopy", "allAccess");
user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.paste", "allAccess");

Windows Media Player Extension

Submitted by Question76 on September 7, 2008 - 5:11pm

I downloaded the Windows Media Player plugin for firefox. Now, whenever I try to install it, the installer starts up, but I get the error message "Invalid Drive F://".

My flash drive is set to drive G. I think that if I could change it to drive F, it might fix the problem. (The U3 System is drive E).

Can anyone help or tell me an alternate way to install the Windows Media Player plugin?

Is firefoxportable.paf.exe corrupted?

Submitted by splunge on September 6, 2008 - 6:02pm

My FF3 portable installation started acting flaky, so I downloaded it again from portableapps.com, and made sure to overwrite the previous .paf.exe file, but now I get a Windows pop-up "bubble message" (from the tray) saying it's corrupted, and now it doesn't appear listed in the PortableApps menu program, but when I try to run it manually (by clicking its icon) I get a "command window" for a second and then nothing.
