Firefox Portable

shared profile Windows XP and PCLinuxOS

Submitted by thsman on November 22, 2007 - 8:43am

I use portable Firefox on a stick and also on a dual boot machine with a shared drive. Everything works fine except for one little annoying detail. Whenever I open Firefox in PCLOS I have to re-check the checkbox in options/advanced/general to always use autoscrolling. It stays set for Windows but not for Linux.

Foxmarks bookmark sync

Submitted by pj80471 on November 17, 2007 - 9:44am

In case anyone else falls foul of the latest upgrade.....

Foxmarks was at v1.x and recently released an upgrade to v2.

The v2 option does not work correctly, see the foxmarks website.
Stay on v1.x or if you have upgraded go to foxmarks website, read the message about problems and reinstall v1.x - it installs over the top without problems.

Hope this helps someone. Smile

Proxy program tracking

Submitted by redped on November 12, 2007 - 3:00pm

Hi,

I managed to get Firefox portable working in my office by entering in the proxy server number - I've only just realised that my IT dept might be able to track what programs are accessing the proxy and this could land me in real trouble.

I changed the user agent to IE6 before accessing the proxy but I didn't change the filename of the exe.

Can anyone shed any light on the chances of my IT dept flagging this up?

Thanks
