FIREFOX and THUNDERBIRD opens a "brand new" instance after click on a link or an email

Hi, experts. I will try to write my best English to make me understandable Smile

Well. It's absolutely irrelevant if PortableApps is running or not. If I fill an URL in Start > Run (windows xp) and press ENTER, a second instance of Firefox runs, other one of the program I have installed in my pen drive. The program that opens are in English, with other bookmarks, other plug ins, completely different of the Firefox in Portuguese I have installed in PortableApps.

Firefox Portable and Tor button

Submitted by RoninV on August 20, 2007 - 3:50pm

Using FFP from with a company network....

Keep having proxy issue when attempting to enable TorButton. After triggering FFP (v2.0.0.6), and getting on the web successfully, the attempt to enable Tor results in the familiar "The proxy server is refusing connections..." window. This proxy issue doesn't appear when using OperaTor from same location. Any success stories out there with this situation?

Bug - Paths are not relative in many FFP files...

Submitted by eternicode on August 19, 2007 - 12:37am

Hi,

I've been playing around with my new FFP installation, and I noticed that there are a few files that use absolute paths, using the drive's letter to locate the resource. I see this as an issue, since this program is supposed to work independent of drive letter. Problematic files I've found so far:

FireFoxPortable\Data\profile\extensions.ini
FireFoxPortable\Data\profile\compatibility.ini
FireFoxPortable\Data\settings\FireFoxPortableSettings.ini
FireFoxPortable\DefaultData\profile\extensions.ini
FireFoxPortable\DefaultData\profile\compatibility.ini

missing modules in firefox

Submitted by hart022 on August 18, 2007 - 6:31pm

when i am using firefox on my home pc, all my settings work. when I use another pc however, it goes back to it's original state;with none of my settings or extensions(except they appear in the add-ons menu). the files work too. so i used an application called dependency walker to diagnose this. what i found was 4 problematic files all of which are .dll files.these files are:DWMAPI.DLL,EFSADU.DLL,SHLWAPI.DLL and MPR.DLL.the error messages i get with them are:
Warning: At least one delay-load dependency module was not found; And:

Where do you put the HOSTS file ?

Submitted by wylbur37 on August 16, 2007 - 7:54pm

For those who want to use a HOSTS file with FireFox,
in which directory/folder should the HOSTS file be placed?

For example, when using Windows XP without portable apps,
the HOSTS file is normally placed
into "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc",
but when using portable apps, there's normally no such directory.

What is the directory on the portable apps drive that is
equivalent to "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc"?

GUI Freeze During Page Loads

Submitted by neatneatneat on August 14, 2007 - 10:15am

I've been using FF Portable for years and for the last six months it's gotten progressively worse that the entire FF GUI will freeze and Firefox itself will become frozen and usable while a webpage loads.

I've tried to be very careful about limiting the number of extensions I have installed but sometimes I cringe when I access a blog or website containing tons of images or scripts because I can literally no longer use Firefox until it has completely downloaded the entire content of the page.

FireFox - Bookmarks

Submitted by ElmoF on August 13, 2007 - 12:17pm

I downloaded the portable version of FF so I could use the bookmarks I already have for FF on my home computer. The million dollar question is... how do I get the bookmarks from my home computer's FF to the portable?
When I click on import, it only shows IE (which I rarely use).
Any ideas?
Thanks!
