Hey there,
I need the Firefox Nightly but installing it fails. Once I start the setup it is supposed to download the needed files. Unfortunately the below happens.
ISSUE: Some extensions (example NoScript) will fail to move on first run after moving from one location to another in Firefox Portable 67.0.2. This is due to the reliance on a file called addonStartup.json.lz4 in the profile directory that stores full paths. This file is not portable.
I'm running Firefox Portable Developer's Edition v67.0b19.
I uninstalled an app which normally inserts an extension into all browsers on the system, including Firefox. Normally, uninstalling this app causes those added extensions to be uninstalled, and all is well.
A couple of updates ago, I don't remember exactly when it started, when I click on a link in an email from thunderbird portable, it opens a new version of firefox rather than using the currently open firefox session. What worse, it doesn't load any of the extensions.
This is on latest windows 10. The "choose a default browser" is set to firefox.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as this has become more annoying each time.
I only get the splash screen for few seconds and firefox Portable does not start
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Desktop pc
Installed in C:PortableApps
I have Firefox std installed and working okay
If I try and start firefox Portable with std firefox running I get the std error that firefox is already running
ChromiumPortable works fine and both these are working on my windows 10 laptop
Suggestions to sort this would be great, thanks
when opening Firefox in a new window when one is already open by right clicking on it`s taskbar icon, clicking on new tab or the firefox game, causes a new window with a new profile to be read, using about:profiles shows that it is the only profile when in reality, my profile is the only one.
running windows 10 (version 1803, build 17134.766) 64 bit OS, install path is C:\Users\username\Desktop\files\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable, OS was restored.
In Firefox Portable 67 I noticed a problem with Windows jump lists in the taskbar - there are menus to open a new tab, a new window or a frequently visited sites - when Firefox Portable is open and I click on any of these menu items a new instance of Firefox Portable is opened in new profile, not the one I'm currently using. This is not how the jump lists work for installed Firefox - the currently used profile is used and that's how it should be. This effectively makes the taskbar jump lists useless since opening a new instance in a new profile is almost never what the user intends.
Dear friends, i found here in the forum similar questions, but mostly with only portable FF67
My working environment:
- windows 10
- static FF67 installed
- portable FF67 with PortableApps
All users on this computer use the static version. I only use PortableApps with FF, TB and others. With version FF66, i opened the portable FF and all external link requests opened in a new tab in the portable instance.
Now, with version 67 it changed. A link start the static version with the default profile.
An example of steps to reproduce the issue on Windows PC:
1. Start Firefox.
2. Print a copy of any website.
3. Exit Firefox.
Upon exiting Firefox, an empty folder called mozilla-temp-files is left behind in \AppData\Local\Temp.
Another example to reproduce the issue is to watch a few YouTube clips and then exit Firefox.
The above behavior is observed on all Firefox Portable 67 and newer.
