How do I get the QFA into FxP?
The plugin installer can't detect the browser installation directory. Or, if Firefox is already installed on the host machine, it will likely install the plugin to the regular Fx installation.

There is an alternate validation method (browser independent), so this is just a heads-up.
I just got the FirefoxPortable to launch by renaming the exe file to word. Now, why is it that when I have the Firefox from my PC open and go to open the portable version I get a message saying that Firefox is already open. Is there a way to make the whole program look like Microsoft Word?
Hello all.
I've been using Portable Firefox for some time now, and I've always been impressed. I'm sort of a portable apps junkie. I just prefer minimalist software that does the job right without alot of hassle or garbage left behind. But lately I've had problems that have me befuddled.
Obviously I've doing something wrong. I've done something or have missed something, so I'd like to ask for help.
I had no problems with 1.5.0.7. It ran like a dream. I used DefaultMyPFF to set it to the default browser. No issues. Then I get version 2.0. It runs fine, but when I try to set it as the default browser using the same technique, I get errors. Everytime I open a webpage, not only does the page open correctly, but I get a Windows message saying that it can't find the file in question. As in "Windows cannot find, "http://portableapps.com" ". Very weird.
Hello this is a really weird incident. I use Portable Firefox 2.0 on a seperate partition from my windows partition. I downloaded the latest release of portable firefox from its main page yesterday and created a new profile with it, I only copied over my existing bookmarks file. Everything was working fine.
Today I installed Vista over my Windows partition, full install, but now firefox has some weird problems. My bookmarks are not all showing, only those in subfolders. Firefox forgot my homepage and other settings, and my extensions forgot their settings. From what I understand my prefs file was completely erased.
I work at a company that does not permit access to the Internet. There are a handful of sites that are unblocked. As you can imagine, it makes for a long day not having the Internet. Anyway, I used to have FF port on my PC, but the IT department kept ratting me out to my Boss. At work we use a program called putty.exe. In the past I changed the name of the firefoxportable.exe to putty.exe to get it to run. With all this being said, I need my Internet back. The IT department blocked the use of USB devices, but the cd drive works. I need to run FF port from a cd with the name changed to putty.exe. The problem is, I do not know how to change the .ini file to get it to work. Here is what I have (below). If anyone has ant suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
As of Version 2.0 Firefox seems to have implemented some new kind of supper-cookie which is enabled by default and able to store more info than the usual cookies. It can be switched off in the about:config only (dom.storage.enabled to "false").
Maybe it would be a good idea to disable it in the portable version by default due to privacy reasons?

I haven't had any problems with any versions of Firefox Portable 2.0 before but now when I opened the browser I was surprised to see the default theme loaded, so I went to look for my original one in the themes part but it's not there anymore. What's more is that a lot of my extensions also disappeared and some just suddenly became "Not compatible" with FF 2.0 which is strange because they were working before. I haven't updated FF 2.0 and I don't think there's even an update yet so I'm clueless. When I try to find updates for extensions and themes it doesn't find anything.
If it helps, just before this happened (45 minutes ago) I pulled out my USB without safely removing hardware thing because it tells me it can't be stopped, which happens occasionally and I did that many times before but nothing bad happened.
The directions say to copy the content of the profiles directory to the profiles on the ffp portable, but my directory structure look NOTHING like the example where I'm supposed to copy from...........
I'm running ff 1.5.0.7, and the 'default' directory has NO files, just 3 subdirectories that contain nothing remotely like what's supposed to copy. The directories are Cache.Trash, chrome & extensions...............the pff obviously is 2.x.
I'm at a loss at this point.............I really ONLY care about my password files, as I know I can export/import the bookmarks.
I'm running win xp pro for both versions, pff & ff, and pff is on a usb key, setup for local operation to minimize wear & tear on the key.
I just downloaded the suite which is quite cool and have had my first play with firefox 2.0 which is very nice, the only problem I am having is that when I save a page or download something, the downloads window pops up but it is always empty, is it broken or is there a setting that has been turned off? Thanks Andrew
