screenshotThe SeaMonkey project is a community effort to develop the SeaMonkey all-in-one internet application suite. Such a software suite was previously made popular by Netscape and Mozilla, and the SeaMonkey project continues to develop and deliver high-quality updates to this concept. Containing an Internet browser, email & newsgroup client with an included web feed reader, HTML editor, IRC chat and web development tools, SeaMonkey is sure to appeal to advanced users, web developers and corporate users. Under the hood, SeaMonkey uses much of the same Mozilla source code which powers such successful siblings as Firefox, Thunderbird, Camino, Sunbird and Miro. Learn more about SeaMonkey...

New In This Release

This release updates SeaMonkey to the latest version.

Auto-Update Issue

If you allow SeaMonkey, Portable Edition to auto-update, some non-personal files may remain on the local PC. This will be addressed in a later release. Installer / Format

SeaMonkey, Portable Edition is packaged in a Installer so it will automatically detect an existing installation when your drive is plugged in. And it's in Format, so it automatically works with the Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

SeaMonkey, Portable Edition is available for immediate download from the SeaMonkey, Portable Edition homepage. You can get the other localized releases from the Localization page. Get it today!

Story Topic:

I performed the automatic download yesterday and compressed the dll's and exe's in the APP/SeaMonkey folder without any issues. After reading the "Auto-Update Issue" message I decided to install from the .paf official release but noticed that it didn't appear to be compressed. I ran UPX, via " AppCompactor", over the APP/SeaMonkey folder again and compressed it by 10MB.

Is there a reason this was not compressed?

Chris Morgan's picture

The reason is due to the distribution agreement with Mozilla because of their trademark; the condition is that the main binaries of all their apps be unmodified, thus we can't compress them. This was documented somewhere but I can't find it straight off and can't remember exactly where it is. You're welcome to compress it yourself but we can't in distribution.
