PortableApps.com is proud to announce the first release of the new PortableApps Suite. This package of portable software includes popular programs like Firefox, OpenOffice.org and Thunderbird along with an integrated menu and easy-to-use backup utility. The Suite can be installed on any portable device (USB flash drive, iPod, portable hard drive, etc) and used on any Windows (and many Linux) PC. The other big news is that Firefox Portable 2.0, OpenOffice.org 2.0.4 and many other portable apps have been released in conjunction with the new suite. To show it all off, we even have a snazzy new homepage.

For anyone wondering why it's been a little quiet around here, there's been a lot going on behind the scenes. We're getting ready to release a new set of updates to the apps and we'd like to get a few more beta testers to take a look at some of the pre-releases. Updated versions of Firefox Portable, OpenOffice.org Portable, AbiWord Portable, Gaim Portable, FileZilla Portable, ClamWin Portable, Portable Apps Backup and more have been posted in the Beta Testing Forum. These updates add new features, new functionality and Vista compatibility among other things. They're not quite ready for general release, so, the more folks we have testing these out, the better. If you have a few minutes to spare, please pop into the Beta Testing Forum and give a few of them a try and post your results back to the appropriate topic. Thanks!

FileZilla logoFileZilla Portable version 2.2.28 has been released as a multilingual package. For the unfamiliar, FileZilla Portable is the handy FileZilla FTP client packaged with a PortableApps.com Launcher as a portable app, so you can take your FTP client and site list with you. This new release updates the included FileZilla package to include the latest release (with bugfixes) and updates the launcher to remove older directory layouts (as in the recent Firefox Portable release), which slightly increases startup time. The new release is available for immediate download from the FileZilla Portable homepage.
