yeap, "everyone's opinion

yeap, "everyone's opinion counts" but in the end it was YOUR choice (changing "Expresso" which has said already existed, to "eXpresso" that mattered...)

I just have to point the irony in you always saying that you didn't want a name that had any synonymously with the coffee theme...

Democracy is great...

I meant blatantly following a coffee pun, like 'coffee' or 'bean', etc. eXpresso does not sound exactly like espresso. I was encouraging creativity.

Yes,

for the one with the grey file rectangle. That will be the main icon.

Also, try taking the pointer arrow out of these icons http://b.imagehost.org/0554/Preview.png (the image you were talking about) and replacing it with the .eX.
Those tray icons in the tray are important, because that's what the user is seeing the most of.
Thanks.

tray + shadow = ???

I think the problem with the smaller images is that the shadow falls exactly in the negative spaces of the text and is too similar in "color". How does it look with the shadow removed on the 16x16? Perhaps the shadow could be raised slightly on the 32x32 (similar to "Tray Idea with Shadow").

Also, the 16x16 could possibly be "zoomed-in" at the expense of cropping part of the outer circle.

Just some thoughts from a total non-designer.  :-)

:D *applause*

That is amazing! Okay, a few things:

The Logo is perfect; I won't be using it in the smaller formats anyway.

Tray idea: Windows Vista has a black taskbar, and so do some XP themes, so a black icon isn't exactly contrasting. I think it's important to keep some colour in the tray icon. I like the tray idea without the shadow, it's very clear at 16x16. I agree with haustin, the shadow tends to take up the negative spaces in the text, making it hard to read when it's small.

For 'Tray Normal' and 'Tray Paused', lets remove the shadow from the 16x16 versions, and make the .eX about 2 times bigger, so there is only about ~1.5 of the circles visible on the outside of the 'e'. I'd rather lose some of the circles that are visible outside of the 'e', and have the text more visible. Also, for the tray icon, if the end of the 'X' goes outside of the last circle, give that part a red/blue shadow so it still contrasts the background in the tray.

One last thing: for the sake of using it on a website someday, I'd like to have a graphic that has the complete name,eXpresso based on the .eX text in the icons.

Well, I think that's it. I'll make sure you're credited for the graphics, you really deserve it. Almost done!
Thanks,
Brian.

Great

The full name logo is great. I'm not sure about what to do with the tray icons, so why don't you upload a package with both the coloured shadow and no shadow tray icons, along with all the other finished icons and logos. I'll try each one with the app, and upload some screenshots of the tray to see what people think.
Thanks.

Hmmm.

I think the 16x16 would be more readable if the inner circles were removed (leaving the "e" as the innermost circle).

I tried it by manually adjusting the pixels in Paint and it looked pretty good.

Great idea

for the tray icon, haustin. I'll probably use that one.
Thanks again NeoRame for your work on this. I think that'll be the final icon work, for now. I'll let you know if something comes up.
I'll post some screenshots of the icons once i get the new version of CAFE Mod eXpresso - Biggrin - up an running.

@NeoRame: one last fix!

Well, I'm kicking myself for not posting this earlier, but I've been very busy for the last month or so.
I was switching the XP themes around on my PC with eXpresso running (with the new tray icon), and unfortunately those blue rings are the exact color of the Default Blue XP theme, and they don't show up at all. So I was thinking, and I think the best option would be to put that file rectangle behind both tray icons, except make it square to cover the icon background. That is the only way I think it'll work with all windows themes.
Sorry for bugging you again. Wink
