Download Technic Launcher 431 Dev Test 1 (2.31MB download / 2.48MB installed)
(MD5: c9536396226f8882e72f6fe8372a8c9b)

Update Note: According to the official download page, the Technic Launcher should keep itself updated without having to redownload directly from the site. Therefore, only new installs should need to download the most recent version from here as existing users should already be updated to the most recent version.

Note: Minecraft and all modpacks rely on jPortable or a local Java installation. This package only contains the Technic Launcher. There are no modpacks preinstalled so you must leave room for the modpacks and other content you use. This launcher is only for valid Minecraft/Mojang accounts; please do not post or advocate ways of circumventing this.

Historical note: There was a previous attempt at this which did not conform to PA.c packaging guidelines. This package is not affiliated in any way with this previous attempt.

Strange issue

I'm not sure if it's your program or my machines, but when I launch the application (either from PA.c Platform or directly from the exe), I am shown the PortableApps splash screen, then nothing. I believe there is a problem with the 'TechnicLauncher' in App/Technic. I replaced this with the 'TechnicLauncher' directly from Technicpack.net, and it works fine. If you could check that out, it would be great.

Thank you

I'll retrieve the file from SF and use it on a clean computer if possible. The launcher originally bundled was the newest version from the website so I hope it didn't get corrupted.

Update: I downloaded a clean copy of both my Technic installer and jPortable to a computer I haven't used Technic on before. I ran the program as normal for a portable app and it did launch properly, though it took a little longer than normal for me (15 seconds for loading screen to pop up instead of 5 for a normal local copy). I'm sorry that it didn't work for you, and I'm glad that you were able to make it work with a clean download of the launcher.

Downloading Launcher Asset

When I launch Technic Portable I get a blue wrench in a circle that reads, "Downloading Launcher Asser:OpenSans + Cy 0%". I've left it for over 2 hours now and it never changes. When I force close it and try again the launcher says it was improperly closed and I restart it, but it goes back to the same thing.

Awesome!

This has been awesome to use Technic in a flash drive and I thank you for it!

I did notice a problem - maybe specific to me. I used this on a Windows 7 32bit OS (with JPortable 32bit) and it all works fine. But when I try and use it on a Windows 7 64bit OS (still using jPortable 32bit), I get memory errors. It seems that in this configuration, Jave32 only allows 1gb of memory, but I think Minecraft is trying to use more as it sees it is on a 64bit OS.

Downloading JPortable64 and renaming the "Java64" to "Java" folder under the CommonFiles seems to fix this. When I launch Technic Portable, it sees the 64bit version and I'm able to increase the allocated memory to 2gb. Solves all the problems. (memory used was 1.5gb)

However, this means I cannot really use Java for other portableapps (it's Java64 in the place of Java32). I know that Java64 isn't really supported officially.

Is it possible to do something that richo did in the thread https://portableapps.com/node/43397 where it looks to see if there is a Java64 folder first? The only thing I found in the Source directory was the script file so I don't know how difficult this would be.

Again, thanks for putting this out here!

RE: Awesome!

At the bottom of my thread is a link to a plugininstaller for PortableApps.com Launcher.

It is an unsupported mod to PortableApps.com Launcher that adds JPortable64 support.

All that is required is to install it and regenerate the "TechnicPortable.exe" file.

Note: PortableApps.com Launcher v2.2 must be installed for my fix to work.

Also, if you put the following code in a file "settings.json" in a folder "technic" in the same folder as "TechnicLauncher.jar", Technic will run in Portable Mode:

{
  "directory": "portable",
  "launcherSettingsVersion": "1"
}

Expected folder/file tree:

+TechnicLauncher.jar
+technic\
        +settings.json
