I downloaded VLCPortable 2.1.2 from https://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable
I also downloaded VLC 2.1.2 32 bits and 64 bits (7zip no installer version) from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
If I compare the versions from either portableapps to vlc ones, I have these information:
VLCPortable: 651 files, 250 folders; 72.3 Mb
VLC2.1.2-win64: 663 files, 242 folders, 97.9 Mb
VLC2.1.2-win32: 708 files, 245 folders, 98.7 Mb
So the portable version of VLC are about 30Mb fatter,
1/ how comes?
2/ Are they functionaly different?
Additionaly, If I md5 compare VLCPortable to either VLC 2.1.2 32 bits or 64 bits, I notice that VLCPortable from portableapps has more common files with the 64bits version from VLC than with the 32bits.
Hypothese:
VLCPortable is build from the 64bits version, I do not see this information on the portableapps page.
VLC Portable is based off the 32-bit version from the official site, otherwise it would not work on 32-bit machines.
The size difference is due to the fact that the files in VLC Portable are compacted, thus saving 30+Mb of space - but they are the same files as in the 32-bit 7zipped version, and thus VLC Portable is functionally the same.
Those are just zip downloads. they're not portable. zip downloads are generally not portable unless they are labeled as such. even then, they're generally not fully portable and will have things break.

anyone knows why, after verifying my mozilla addons for the latest updates, everything gets updated but the VLC plugin remains out of date. could anyone give me a hint on how to fix this issue?
thank you in advance and i apologise if i am off topic, i`m new.
We don't support the VLC plugin with either Firefox Portable or local Firefox.
