Windows 10: A Portable App as a Standard Program not possible?

I´m using a lot of different Portable Apps on my PCs, Notebook and even Tablet.
But it seems to me, that it is not possible, to organize for example Thunderbird or Office Libre as a standard program for one or more spezific file-types like .doc or .eml - and so a doubleklick on a file like xyz.doc does´nt open office libre or Pricelist.eml doesn´t open Thunderbird.
I think, the reason is, that portable apps ar not registered in the registry because they don´t need to be installed.

Is there any workaround to solve my problem?

File Associations not possible

As you've figured out, it is not currently possible to use file associations in Windows 10 due to how Microsoft has setup the File Associations.
