Hi! I often use PAP on various PCs, some of which are x64, some x86, some have XP or even 2000, some - Windows 11.
It is always pretty hard to have a set of apps which will support all of these.
Sometimes I simply create a double folder for an app where I keep its - let's say - latest x64 version, while in the original folder remains app's legacy x86 version.
Sometimes I try find the oldest version which supports all systems.
I have 2 questions here:
1. Is there any quick way to disable some specific app from getting updates? Maybe removing some line in .ini file etc?
2. Will there eventually be an option to "officially" store (and update?) several version of the same app? E.g.: one for x86 with XP support (legacy version), one for x86 systems but up to date. There are tons of such apps which would be nice to split: Notepad++, mp3tag, Stickies et al.
Thanks!
UPD: I know that there is now an extended list of apps available in the "Get More Apps" menu.
However, for example when I tried to install Gramps x86 from it - it said "File not found".
You can prevent update of an app by renaming its folder. I suggest AppNameOld so that it won't later collide with an official legacy release.
There are currently over 70 legacy packages of apps released. Additional packages that will be released are listed on the page. Requests for legacy versions of existing apps can be made there as well.
The issue with the legacy Gramps 32-bit release not downloading have been fixed. I also added Gramps Portable 3.x to the app store for XP/Vista.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
