Wanted to check before releasing...

I just made my first portable app (SHWEET!!! Biggrin ) but the actual app is shareware. I was wondering if I could just post the launcher and the launcher's source and then just include a link to the app in the readme file (or on the post).
I have seen a bunch of posts about this but none of them were clear enough for me to distinguish this. Thank you for any help.

Personally.

I've read that it's not allowed, I think.

But many people have done it. And as long as your not including the program.

You're learning, I don't think anyone should stop that.

However, I'm not sure if John will reply (honestly, I haven't seen him all day, which is weird) but give him a bit to reply if you really wanna make sure. And if he doesn't, well, post it and see what happens I guess. Smile

AFAIK

its no problem to post the launcher of a freeware/shareware App.

Ryan did that with µTorrent

Ryan did that with µTorrent Portable. It should be perfectly fine.

Not funny! I'm using IE and it works perfectly. Let's not start the IE vs FF discussion. I have my preference and you have yours.

OK...

...but IE is quite craptacular, no question about it!!!...

As one mag said some years back
"...it reeks of ass..."

No need...

1) It's from Micro$oft - 'nuff said...

2) Firefox - and even moreso, OPERA - have had the tabbed browser interface nailed down tight for years.

3) Plz Xplain why M$ should be given even one *molecule* of credibility for FINALLY incorporating the browser technology that everyone ELSE has been using for years into their "new" product, IE7....

IE has been ahead of Opera

IE has been ahead of Opera before. IE had Ajax before Opera. On vista IE is actually safer than any other browser due to it running in sub-standard user privliges allowing it to only write to the temporary internet files folder.

Don't judge IE if you haven't tried the latest version. (I actually skinned my FFP to look like IE7. Smile )

Um, SO???!!!...

I don't even know what Ajax is, and therefore have obviously never had to use it.

To be "first" in a technology that few really use is hardly a distinction of any merit at all...

Also, IE7 has been - from what I've read - every bit as plagued by security holes as its predecessors - and thus, quite unlike FF or Opera.

Bottom line:
"Opera/FF rules; IE7 drools..."

can we stop arguing over

can we stop arguing over which browser is better, everybody likes different things, who cares? it's no where close to the original point of this topic anyway.

and as MISIIM said before this whole thing started "I'm using IE and it works perfectly. Let's not start the IE vs FF discussion. I have my preference and you have yours."

just because you prefer Firefox or Opera doesn't mean that the world must conform to your ways.

AJAX is used for many online applications such as Zoho Office, SpellJAX Spell Checker, AJAXOffice...

IE does still have security holes, but if you reread his post, he said IE7 in VISTA because it runs with sub-privelages, limiting what it can access on the PC

Also

Google uses Ajax for Gmail, Google Calendar, various other stuff and Google Suggest. In fact, Drupal even uses it when you search for a username. Wink (Administration only guys, sorry Biggrin )

True that!

IE is a piece of s***. It is so slow compared to Firefox. That is mostly what I look for in a browser. If I have a blazing fast internet speed what is the point if the browser is slow

Get back on topic kids...

"My browser is better than your browser" battles are old, stupid, and tiresome.

Add "BrowserX sux0rs!" statements to that list too.
