non-portable apps format portable programs

Submitted by erkanady on March 14, 2007 - 10:44pm

I have several self contained small apps that are not in the protable app format and cannot be installed inthe portable app list on my thumb drive. I tried changing the name of the MUSIC folder so I could put them there and have access to the from that folder. However, although the MUSIC folder name is changed, it still appears on the menu as MUSIC. I can still put them there, but I'd prefer having the folder in the menu reflect the actual contents.

Has anybody else have had several error messages about missing dlls when they've tried to run apache for the first time?

I get the same message when I try to setup both the lite verson and the normal one.

The missing dlls are:
php_mbstring.dll

aspell-15.dll
libcs.dll
DB2CLI.dll
isqlt09a.dll
CORE_RL_magick_.dll

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Splash Screens

Submitted by Patrick Patience on March 1, 2007 - 7:47pm

I wasn't quite sure where to put this post, I didn't think it really needed to go in general discussion, so here's my question. When a program is loading, most of the time, I splash screen will come up. I was curious as to how you change the Splash Screen, not for any PortableApp.com apps, because I love the splash screen for them, but for another program...Could anybody help me out with this?

Quake 2 Demo Error

Submitted by Jaster_Mereel on February 22, 2007 - 3:43pm

I added the Quake 2 demo to my thumb drive by copying the Quake 2 Demo folder onto my thumb drive into the PortableApps folder. Everytime I try and launch the game from the Portable Apps Menu, I receive the following error: "Could'nt load pics/colormap.pcx". The weird thing is if I actually go to the folder and launch the exe this way, it works. I tried creating 2 different exe files (created a batch and converted it to exe) that would then load the Quake 2 exe instead of the Portable Apps Menu actually loading it.

Trend System Cleaner

Submitted by vmachine on February 21, 2007 - 4:02pm

This forum topic could go in a few different catagories so I apologize if this isnt the best place. Tren micro has a av app called Syscleaner, that can be run in ms-dos from a bootable enviornment or from a thumb drive or a windows/linux installation. I tried adding the directory for the system cleaner in the portable apps menu, and it shows up but I cant launch the program. It flashes the screen for a second then says fail. I can run the app stand alone from my usb flash, but I wanted to put it in the portable app menu and run it from there.
