UltraVNC, how to get it working?

Submitted by twnty3svn on December 7, 2006 - 6:33am

Has anyone been able to get UltraVNC working on a system using Zonealarm, a NAT router and WindowsXP?

I'm using UltraVNC with Portable UltraVNC Viewer. I've portforwarded 5900 and 5800 on both my router and my ZoneAlarm, and tested my port 5900, plus i'm using the correct IP address and i've given my computer a static IP address also. However for some reason when i go to connect using the VNC viewer, it keeps telling me the connection has failed. Any thougths on how to get this working?

Problem with otbsupport's scripts

Submitted by McStarfighter on December 6, 2006 - 9:33pm

Hi,

everytime I try to compile one of otbsupport's NSIS scripts I get

"!include: could not find: "GetParameters.nsh"
Error in script "Z:\Software Windows\PortableApps Suite 1.0\PortableApps\explore2fsPE\Other\explore2fsPECode\explore2fsPE.nsi" on line 32 -- aborting creation process"

Is there a NSIS plugin I've not installed? I have installed all plugins found on the NSIS homepage.

Thx a lot for help.

where is personal data stored?

Submitted by thaKing on December 4, 2006 - 1:10pm

i am using portable firefox 1.5.0.8 as part of the Torpark distribution. i was wanting to NOT clear my private data (history, passwords, forms, downloads, cookie, cache) if possible, without leaving a trail on the HDD of the PC being used. where is this data stored, the USB flash drive, or is some of it written to the HDD (registry, etc). if i don't clear private data, am i still anonymous as far as the host PC is concerned?

Portable Opera

Submitted by stromy93 on December 2, 2006 - 1:12pm

I've tried installing Opera 9.02 and 8.54 that are for USB. Installing is no problem. Works fine. But once I quit PortableApps and disconnect the thumb drive, when I go back later to start Opera, I always get an error that I'm missing a certain file. But if I go to the root directory for Opera, it runs fine. But just not from the PortableApps menu. Freshing the menu does no good. Any suggestions?

XAMPP installation

Submitted by xLan on November 30, 2006 - 12:54pm

Hello:

I tried to install through Menu launcher ("Install new app") but when I try to launch it can't. It gets errors from mysql and apache

I read documentation and it says that it musts go x:\xampp directory or else it will fails.

Then the problem is that the icons disappears from PortableApps menu launcher.

How can I Install it in x:\portableapps\xampp?

And i noticed that full xampp installation has size of 211mb but a size in disc of 429mb. Its too much, isnt it? Lite version goes 110mb/129mb, its ok.

Thank you very much.

Their newest release I have it installed on the local version Firefox at home, but it won't install on Portable Firefox. I got version 1.2.1 from a attachment in another thread, but can't DL the xpi file from yahoo so I can install it to the portable.
