Workplace Network Log In and Remote Desktop, Portable

Submitted by i240 Dan on October 6, 2008 - 12:36pm

I have recently purchased a portable hard drive as I am now working from home.

I can log into my company server from home having setup a 'connect to my workplace' network connection using Remote Desktop.

I was wondering whether, as from time to time I may be at a friends house and whish to check my emails whether it is possible to setup a network connection to my work server and remote desktop log in on my portable drive therefore avoiding having to set it up on every pc I might use.

Thanks

Daniel

[Idea] warning if portableapps backup is not up to date

Submitted by DrakeL on October 6, 2008 - 9:55am

Hi,

i think a warnining label in the portableapps menue if the backup is not up to date (so in the directory of the backup are not a backup newer as x days) would be good for people, who forgot often to make a backup.

of course should be able to deactivate the warning. Smile

is that posible?

"High Priority Free Software Projects" Site

See: http://www.fsf.org/campaigns/priority.html

One of the most interesting projects here to us is probably the Skype replacement "Ekiga", no windows support yet though. There is much talk on the forums with regards to a skype replacement, i'd like to see one too.

There's lots of projects on this list, some we can use, some we cannot, however we can offer our support to them all.

Dig deep folks.

i would like to report a cool little thing i found wich adds a drive under my computer

labeled: gmail drive

it allows you to connect and store files on your gmail account.
what is so good about this is it is over 7 gigs worth of storage and if somthing happens to your computer you can go to another computer and still have all your data.

Some Revisions needed for "Request Apps" Forum Guidelines?

Submitted by BrianAll on October 1, 2008 - 7:16pm

Okay,

Jumping straight to the point, IMHO the request apps forum is in dire need of some reforms. To be honest, it's really getting on my nerves to see a request for Adobe Photoshop every time I look in there, to the point I've been avoiding that forum. There's already been around five requests for Photoshop, yet even more for other commercial, closed programs.
