Downloads won't pause

Hi,
I am on a dial-up connection and for large downloads, I have to depend on a download
manager. I use the highly touted DownThemall extension in both versions of my FF -
2 & 3. I've noticed a change in mirrors at SourceForge - ex: the Virgina mirror is gone, replaced by one in New York. This isn't the issue, but since this change, my
downloads won't pause whenever I'm ready to shut my system off. I have to cancel the
download and this is preventing me from downloading some of the larger things like
Open Office and PA menu light. I was curious if anyone else has this problem, if so,

How does PortableApps work - similar to U3?

Submitted by swinster on July 7, 2008 - 7:01pm

Hi,

I'm trying to decide between U3 and PortableApps and want to understand hwo the two differ or are similar. I have had a browse through the site but cannot find anything to compare it to U3. Does the Portable Apps platform have a standard boot partition and then mount a virtual partition in the same way that U3 does?

PortableApps in Schools

Submitted by Jannichsen on July 7, 2008 - 3:37pm

Hello from Germany,
I discovered this programme-package by chance. And after only knowing it for 24hs I think it could be quite revolutionary for schools!!
I would suggest that this should be promoted because I think hardly a school knows about it (at least here in Germany).
If every pupil in school would carry this as natural as he does carry his pencilcase... just imagine.

Do you work on this... what can I do for it?

Take care, Enno

Backup Then Eject Feature ?

Submitted by nwpsys on July 7, 2008 - 1:16pm

Hope this is the correct forums to suggest new features Smile

The new Eject is really useful, but would it be possible to add a flyout where you can Eject Only or "Backup Then Eject" ?

The backup could be fully automated, just taking note of settings of the last manual backup.

This way, at the end of the day, I / we could get an option to save away all our data.

Spanish Language Support: International vs Spain (and Mozilla's "Argentina")

As I've posted previously, we're adding Spanish to our list of supported languages which means we'll be making Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird and OpenOffice.org available in Spanish. We'll be doing the "International" variant of Spanish as opposed to straight "Spain" Spanish as that seems to cover more of the world, unless I'm mistaken.

My Current App Development Slowness

Sorry all, real life issues are taking more time then I had originally anticipated. I had originally been looking at getting Blender Portable updated but I have been struggling to achieve this. I know John has looked at Blender also and at the moment I do not know how much longer I will be away before getting back to everything.

CamStudio has just had an update to 2.6 on the SVC also so that's due for updates also soon.

I will try and visit when I can and let you know when I can put time aside to continue development.

C++ compilers

Submitted by Jacob Mastel on July 5, 2008 - 7:50pm

I've started to teach myself C++, went out bough the book and all that fun stuff. But I haven't found a good compiler for it. I need a free, not necessarily open source C++ compiler. Does Visual C++ compiler make it's app need the .net framework? If not I can use that if there's nothing else.

PortableApps.com bundeled with EmTec USB Drives!!!

Today I read in the new Media Markt advertisement paper that they sell a Emtec 8 gb usb drive "incl. OpenOffice-package and Internetbrowser etc."

I got suspicious and wondered what package they are referring to cause it didnt say U3 nor any other known alternative so I searched for the drive on their website and found this.
