When I realized DVD Styler was originally supposed to be released as a pre-release quite some time ago, I looked into the PortableApps page and found other unreleased pre-releases.

PortableApps installer:: Use current directory as default if drive not found?

Submitted by someoneabc on June 3, 2008 - 1:33pm

Is it possible for the installer to use the directory it's in (ie. the directory it was downloaded to) for the install directory if it doesn't find a PortableApps drive? This is what it use to do before (7-zip extractor) it got 'smart' (NSIS).

This shouldn't be too hard to implement, and it would help me tremendously.

How do I add attachments to a forum post?

Hi John,

Either I'm getting confused with all the forums or I have just forgotten how to attach a file/screen shot to a forum post here...

I also cannot find any hostoric post on how to do this, so can you please let me know how this is done?

I want to include a screen shot of a weird error that I'm getting in the launcher.

Regards
Paul

Please Recommend a 4GB+ USB Flash Drive

Submitted by D237 on June 2, 2008 - 2:50pm

Hello all. I am looking for a decent USB flash drive (4GB+) to run portable apps from. I did a lot of reading of reviews on the net but I can't come to a solid conclusion. Currently the OCZ Rally2 Turbo is the fastest, but prices are high right now. Also, as this is a new model, the competition hasn't caught up with OCZ yet. When it does, I'd imagine prices to fall. Is this a bad time to buy? I don't have a lot of cash to spend, I just want a fairly quick and reliable drive for my money.

Thanks for any help.

How to Include Command Line Parameters?

Submitted by jwinter on June 2, 2008 - 1:37am

I am trying to add Skype to my portable apps and cannot seem to find an easy way to have it kick-off with a simple click to a portable apps menu. Skype offers portability by using command line parameters: "Skype.exe /datapath:data /removable". But how to get the command line parameters included as part of the command!?

Some things I have tried and some of their problems are:
1)Create a batch file called .bat or .cmd - but then it isn't listed in the portable apps menu (besides which having a command window flash up looks ugly and unprofessional).

My USB Flash Drive Name

Submitted by ogzblgnr on June 1, 2008 - 10:18am

Hello to all PortableApps users.
PortableApps Suite is very good and useful but I can't change my USB Flash Drive's name. I's name is PortableApps.com but I want to change it.
When I try right click and click on "Change Name" button in the menu and write a new name, I doesn't change.

Is there a way to change the flash drive's name?
Why it's name is PortableApps.com? It's my flash drive, isn't portableapps.com's.

Thanks for all replies and solutions.
