I know that, in general, Windows XP doesn't autorun USB drives when they are plugged in. I have just bought a new U3 drive which does autorun via the fancy U3 menu stuff.

What I don't particularly want to do is to buy into the whole U3 thing, with U3 versions of apps, etc. For example, I have a portable password manager, which is not U3 compatible. I'm happy with it, and I don't really feel the need to change to a different one.

i've known portable apps has been around - heck, i've downloaded some and used it on my pc, but now that i have my 2nd thumb drive, i'm really into it. I have spent about 5hours making 3 apps protable. the first 2 were kinda of a test to see how easy it was [was hell at first], but is not bad.

I just signed up here. I'm new to the PortableApps suite, having downloaded it to a new 1 GB flash drive just a couple of days ago. So far, I'm very impressed.

I wanted to say THANK YOU to the team of folks who created PortableApps. I'm amazed that I can now carry all my fave programs and settings around with me. I've used Firefox and Thunderbird and OpenOffice, and I love them, but I've also discovered some new programs that are fast becoming favorites, such as Sunbird and Audacity. My next step will be to try out some of the beta applications here.

Hello everyone. My USB Hard drive is currently with a friend and won't be returning for a few months. Could somone e-mail me some portable app installers as attachments?

To save some loading time... Can I disable the portable apps picture before the app is starting? There is no need for advertising portableapps beacause I already advice everyone how great portableapps are.

I am using portable Apps on an encrypted flash drive. I loaded the apps on an XP desktop machine, then put the drive into a Win2k machine and the Portable Apps Menu stopped working. I can launch the .exe files by double clicking their icon, directly, but that is not how it is supposed to go. Also, I wanted to show a friend who has an IBM Thinkpad and the Menu didn't work and when I opened the directory that contains the applications, the icons didn't display. Can anyone help me?

Has anyone tried both of these encryption programs? I've been using TrueCrypt for a while and it works well if you have admin privileges. I've got hold off DriveCrypt which seems to do similar on-the-fly encryption for USB drives. Has anyone used it yet? Does it need admin privileges?

I was wondering if anybody knew when the game apps are comming because im sick of Suduko and yea....

Helo! When open FireFox from PortableApps my antivirus (mks 2005) showing window: file: C:\ (... )\Seba\USTAWI~1\Temp\nsq148.tmp\System.dll is virus - Trojan.Downloader.Agent.bcw. Why? Others app too.

What happened to the two links under "Forum" - "active discussions" and "my discussions" (or so)?

I really need these to stay uptodate in this forum ... browsing through the different forums is NOT an option, specially not with my lame analog connection.

Pls put them back - or an alternative like "view posts since your last visit" like it is in many other boards.
