General discussions of portable apps and news.
I am confused..... from my very limited knowledge of computers. could you tell me if it is possible to install Micro soft Office onto my external hard drive using the original discs and use the portable apps to access and run these programs, or be ambitious and install Photoshop the same way?
[Topic clarified by mod Tim]
was "programs"
we sereously need to implement a different file format to replace JPEG when theming. i came across this problem when i was making one of my recent themes. nomatter what i did or what program i used when saving to JPEG, the file is compressed in such a way that the color ff00ff, used for transparency, is smudged into the other colors thus altering it from the original color and making it show up when implemented onto the PAM.
I just updated the site to Drupal 6.4 to handle a vulnerability and the Views Module to the latest release candidate (it handles the recent posts tracker). Please let me know if anything seems out of whack.
I was wondering what the default launcher that acts as a shortcut to exe in the app folder is used for other than the popup logo. Does it have any effects on the registry if I don't use it?
Sorry if someone has requested this before, I did search but found no other similar feature requests.
I'm just wondering about the possibility of adding an inline search to the PortableApps.com menu, similar to how Windows Vista's inline search works. Search Indexing could be local to the drive and this would make searching much faster than the host machine's search.
An app and 2 games I have on my flash drive.
The app is Aida32, a system diagnostic tool, free and fully portable, and damn useful for the roaming tech. Weighs in at under 5 megs too. Info and download can be found here
The 2 games are Titans of Steel and Well of Souls
Hey all,
Just got a Kingmax Superstick 8gb (http://www.amazon.com/KingMax-Microsoft-Certified-Drive-Washer/dp/B001AM...) yesterday and install portable apps plus FF3, OpenOffice, Putty, 7zip, Gimp, FileZilla, KeePass, VLC, Task Coach and GNUCash on the drive and when running FF3 I am getting realllllly slow speeds (2x-3x slower than native firefox), so I have a few questions:
1) Does having more apps slow down PA even if Im just using one app at a time?
Can a portable desktop/desktop manager be made. If it can be made I have I picture of what it might look like.
How/Ware do I upload a picture so I can show it to you all.
Hi Guys,
I have tons of swf files. I know how to play them and/or convert them
I have all needed to play them on XP and all. That is not a problem...
... but I have to give those written to MP3-palyer or USB Stick
The "destination computer" have nothing and people there don't understand a thing about PC.
I explained to them how to use portable VLC and/or Mplayer
Problem is that VLC don't play swf and Mplayer plays them in "fastest motion possible"
