Can I Change googlechromeportable.exe to chrome.exe? Will it destroy the portable functionality?

A lot of the available apps have functionality in the full versions that aren't present without an installer, namely shell extensions and file associations.

Is there any kind of program that automatically adds them based on the apps you have installed? I know they can't be added by the portableapps platform, but I figure they could be added by a separate program that can request elevation, store the existing settings, change to fit the portable apps, and revert them when you're finished.

The site to buy the USB sticks shows prices that ae $10 per stick higher than your site. What is happening?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but here goes:

I just installed Portable Apps. When I am on the central screen, there are two buttons, bottom right. One closes the App. What is the other for -- the "up arrow"?

I've tried everything but the right answer...

After installing portableapps.com on my USB jump drive, and installing an app, I cannot "safely remove" the USB drive. Program "Unlocker" unlocks portableapps (nothing else shows up), but I still cannot safely remove the USB jump drive. I had no problems with portable apps nor this jump drive before installing portableapps.com.

How can I correct this problem?

I've been running PortableApp on my work computer from my thumb drive every day for over a year, but now TREND MICRO OfficeScan blocks execution. I get a popup that gives the following information:

I:\Start.exe (risk) high (action) create C:\WINDOWS\system. . .

I get a similar warning if I try to run any of the individual apps by launching them from Windows explorer.

The offce PC is running XP professional. PortableApps Launcher recently upgraded to 11.2

One of the best feature i had been using in PortableApps was the Suite which contains all the important apps pre-installed, a 130-150 MB download.
This download i was able to share with people who dont have any kind of access to internet on their systems.
All of them who got to know the Suite were amazed by it.

But now i am not able to find that download, has it been removed ?

I was wondering if PortableApps stored early version.

For example I go to the "Get Apps" tabs and I scroll down to Skype. When I get on the Skype app page its usually the latest version. (Thanks)

But is there a way for me within that page to see and download an earlier version, portable of course.

Sometimes its really needed.

I'm not sure if you can assist me but I'm trying to figure out if there is any logic to determining the new locations of the the version#_chrome_installer.exe on the Google edge download servers.

I keep on eye open over at the http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/ blog and look for new DEV build version releases.
