Is there still just the one IRC channel, or is there more. I've heard there are more than one, but Miranda woun't let me get a full list. If there is more than one, which one is for help developing an app? Thanks..

P.S. I did see portableapps.com/support/chat, and was browsing comments dating back to 2008, but have no idea what is current.

I posted a Release Test of Simple Port Forwarding (in the wrong forum), und you removed the link stating that it was commercial software and that there was no indication of permission given.

For the second part, I agree that I forgot to include permission. I was cutting and pasting from the development test template, and replacing with my info. There isn't a line for permission, and I forgot all about it (maybe that could get added to the template). I have updated the original post to include permission from the author.

It is possible to make articles for non-portable apps?

Submitted by farat_as on July 20, 2012 - 12:38pm

Hi,

I want to make portable MS Office 2010. But I know that its licence (as many other applications) does not allow to distrubite it after making it portable (editing it in any way).

That's why I am asking if it is possible (it is legal) to create articles by developers like: "how to make your portable MS office 2010 from your own installation file" step by step. So every user can make MS Office 2010 portable.

PortableApps.com Updater - Download location?

Submitted by michele.bartole... on July 20, 2012 - 5:23am

Hi Forum.

I find the Updater very useful and comfortable; but, I wonder, where does it locate the temporary setup files of the Apps going to be updated?

Because if the location is directly on the same drive of the PortableApps Menu folders, as I suppose, and it is a USB drive, this download would be slower than on the PC.

In this case, I would prefer to manually download the Setup from the browser to the PC, and to install on the USB afterwards.

Bye Forum.

SPDY protocol command line option

Hello all,

Sorry to bother you guys. I am coming from a networking background, so have no idea about the programming world.

I wanted to distribute my users a custom Chromium Browser, so they may access our Squid proxy over Google SPDY Protocol.

I have been generally starting Chromium on desktop with an argument like

Start> Run and then type c:\chrome-win32\chrome.exe --proxy-pac-url=https://mydomain.us/proxy.pac --use-npn

Future Feature Request- Mine OS Shortcuts

Submitted by scuttlebutt on July 18, 2012 - 3:09am

I had appended this to a previous post about Windows 8 and Metro but the browser attempted to post multiple times thus it was not posted.

My feature request is to have the menu, or app that allows you to manage windows shortcuts, as well as copy them into the portable folder for later use.

I believe this will be useful due to all the vitriol over Windows 8 and Metro and would keep PA.com on top right into the future, as it is the only menu that gets and keeps applications current from a directory of both brilliant and useful programs.
