However I founld there are 2 problems.

1. I can't direct use Portable Chrome to update from Google website. ( Normally on toolbar and "about google" there has a button to check update.

2.I try to change Chrome Theme, it is changed but when I close Chrome and reopen again is back to back default theme. ( Especially I can't change theme again )

Does any one can help me for these 2 problem?

What do you do when you can't safely remove?

Sometimes, it seems like when there is nothing running, you can't remove the drive safely for some reason, even if it's been inactive for a few minutes. This is especially true when running portable applications. When on a non-admin PC, you cant Ctrl-Alt-Delete to see that FireFox didn't close when it was supposed to, or use Unlocker to remove the drive. And the menu can't tell you what apps are running.

So my question is, what do you do when you can't safely remove your drive?

Edit: Wow. More responces than I thought.

WinPenPack closed

Submitted by Sigmund-SL on November 23, 2009 - 8:26pm

Today, after a lot of attempts to enter to the Portable Software WebPage WinPenPack and reveived the same Index, I've seen that the page was closed.

It after a economic problems (I think because of the restrictions) and the user and download restrictions of them.

With that, we all lose a great ally in the Open Souce/Freeware Portable Software, and in the development of new portable applications.

We as community must see that fall as a example of what we DON'T do to extend this.

I have a couple of suggestions that I would like to share And a question.

I would like to do that as a project but I will need help Sad

Second:

win 7 and Portableapps ICON

Submitted by cwhoward on November 22, 2009 - 9:10pm

Well, I updated to Windows 7 without too much fuss.
But, my favorite little Portable Apps ICON does not show up on the Windows 7 Systems.
Has someone figured out how to correct that?

It is such a nice launch pad and easy to show people how to use portable apps, I would really like to get it back.

Thanks,
Chuck

Driver requirements

Submitted by guillaume.prevot on November 21, 2009 - 6:55am

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if it's the right place to post but as it's a general question, I tried "General Discussion" Smile Please move this post if I'm wrong.

Many people in the past asked to make portable some applications portable but get a not possible answer because of requirements.

  • Admin privileges to install driver (thinking of VirtualBox and TrueCrypt)
  • .Net installed (thinking of Paint.Net which I don't use anyway ...)
