bin to iso

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on March 4, 2009 - 5:44am

Is there a free, open source and portable app. which can convert cue/bin to iso? I know you can extract files from either type with e.g. 7-Zip and you can burn (and possibly make?) both types with InfraRecorder, but I need an app. which can convert from one format to another.

Making application portable

Submitted by jc1 on March 3, 2009 - 11:57am

Hi,

I have been reading about the Portable App format Specification (DRAFT 4) on this site. Please pardon my ignorance, but I am wondering what are the advantages of following these standard specifications and directory structures? As long as all files and settings of an app are contained within one folder, isn't that enough to make that application portable?

Requested Updates

Submitted by ElSid on March 2, 2009 - 12:20pm

Hello,
I was curious to find out if there is documentation on how to create/re-create existing portable apps, in order to update them ourselves. There are some programs that have been updated, and
* I would like to update my USB drive
* I would like to learn how to create my own packages.
Here are some existing portable apps that I would like to update

  • BonkEnc v1.0.11 http://www.bonkenc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=107&Ite...
  • Kompozer 0.8a1 http://sourceforge.net/projects/kompozer
  • Eraser 5.86a http://www.heidi.ie/node/14
  • Weather Portable Apps

Are there still no weather apps for Portabler Apps? I know it is hard to find one that does not have spyware. Don't always want to rely on ForecastFox in Firefox. Would be nice if there was a light weight single purpose app such as WeatherPulse. It is free but I don't think it available for conversion.

    Hello everyone!
I just recently started using portable apps. I tried making 3DS max studio 2009 portable. I installed a fresh copy of XP with VMware and then tried using thinapp to capture the installation etc etc. It didnt work.
So I tried looking for it on the internet and also, none of the files I d/led managed to work. Is it even possible to make 3ds max portable? Has anyone tried?

Me and a buddy wanna play this at work, we have unrestricted net access, but we can't install anything to the hard drives of our computers. I know you can install firefox on a thumb drive, should I be able to install quake live, which uses a firefox browser plug-in, on the thumb drive as well and have it run okay?

anyone have any experience with this?
